My Grandma’s a Superhero! Meet Super Mamika

My Grandma’s a Superhero! Meet Super Mamika

Well not really, but I bet my grandma can hold her own. This grandma, though, has got what it takes to dress up and pose as if she had superpowers. Last year, French photographer Sacha Goldberg released a set of photos featuring his Hungarian grandmother, Frederika, as a superhero. Grandma Frederika, then 91 years old, was suffering from depression, and the artist grandson decided to help her through the tough times by conducting outrageous photo shoots. Not only did the therapy work, but Sacha’s work got tons attention, gaining him the admiration of people from all over the world. This time, superhero grandma Mamika is back with a huge bang Read more »

Rumours Abound for Haruhi Season 3

Rumours Abound for Haruhi Season 3

The hugely popular 2006 anime, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya took the anime world by storm when it came out. Based on the light novels by Nagaru Tanigawa, the story is about an average guy and the adventures that the eccentric leader of the SOS Brigade drags him into. The series took a downturn in the second season when eight versions of the same episode were aired in what is known as Endless Eight. Needless to say, many fans were not happy with that particular arc. Haruhi (or maybe I should say Yuki) made a comeback a year later with the release of the first movie, The Disappearance of Haruhi Read more »

The 15 Weirdest X-Men Ever

The 15 Weirdest X-Men Ever

I almost titled this article “15 X-Men You’ll Never See On the Big Screen,” but Hollywood being the strange, inexplicable place that it is, you never know. (And at least two of them appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand.) Marvel likes to boast that it has a roster of more than 5,000 characters, but did you know that over two thousand of them are mutants? Over the many decades of Marvel Comics, some pretty bizarre mutants have been created. Here’s my picks for the top 15 most outrageously weird X-Men ever. Read more »

How Ready Are You for the Zombie Apocalypse?

How Ready Are You for the Zombie Apocalypse?

We all know it’s coming. It is not a question of if, but when. The other question is how prepared you are for when the zombie apocalypse does happen. Admittedly, there are some people who are not taking this seriously, and if you are one of them, you might want to stop and listen. Heck, even the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are taking it seriously! This government agency is the best when it comes to emergencies and public health matters, so why shouldn’t we pay attention to what they say? Recently, the CDC released a primer on preparedness, for when the zombie apocalypse occurs. In true CDC style, Read more »

Meanwhile, For The Record…

Meanwhile, For The Record…

Putting aside all discussion of ‘is it a reboot?’, ‘is it not a reboot?’ and ‘how do you define a reboot anyway, ‘cos this isn’t one, honest’; I was drawn to my pile of unread Image stories, and have found another little treasure. It’s quite apropos actually. An entire town undergoes a reboot so-to-speak; waking up one morning to find completely different people in their house as to the night before, and apart from noticing a difference, their entire memories wiped. Almost as if they had had a mass visit from the Men In Black with their amnesia sticks. Ten years later, a journalist decides to go see how the Read more »

First NGP Games Unveiled

First NGP Games Unveiled

Sony’s forthcoming successor to the PSP is expected to be one of the big headline-grabbers next week at E3, but in advance of that mega-event, they’ve taken the wraps off of three titles gamers can expect to play on the NGP (which is heavily rumored to be called the PSVita). First and foremost on the list is Uncharted: Golden Abyss, which is being developed by Bend Studios with collaboration from Uncharted creators Naughty Dog Games. The main thing Sony wants everyone to know is that Golden Abyss is an entirely new Nathan Drake adventure — it’s not a port of an existing Uncharted game. Oh, and also that they’re incorporating Read more »
