There are geeks, and then there are Geeks: the ones willing to go to any lengths to show the world how much they love whatever it is they’re passionate about. Even if it means transforming their home into a virtual shrine.

Here are my picks for the world’s teen geekiest houses. (Add a link to your favorite geeky house in the Comments!)

Batcave House

Location: Laguna Beach, California
This cliffside house is carefully hidden from roadway views, but neither that nor its unique design are what give it its geeky qualities. Much like Batman‘s secret cave, there’s no garage — you park the car right inside the house, via (get this) a hydraulic lift! This is no mere house: it’s a secret lair. It’s currently for sale and can be yours for a cool $9.9 million.

Guitar-Shaped House

Location: Fayetteville, Georgia
The home of Country singer/songwriter Elvis Cardin was custom-made to his specifications to resemble a guitar, from the air. The guitar’s neck is actually a long hallway that leads to a garage inside the headstock. Niftiest detail: there are electrical wires running along the roof resembling guitar strings.

Hobbit House

Location: Wales, UK
For a little under $5,000 dollars, this Hobbit-like home was built from recycled and all-natural materials like actual wood branches and straw bales for insulation, to have the lowest possible impact on the environment. It’s self-powered via solar panels, uses a nearby spring for running water, and its refrigerator is cooled from air that seeps through the house’s foundation. Definitely a house that would make Tolkien proud.

House of Books

Location: Alpago Mountains, Italy
Wood artist Livio De Marchi handcrafted this extraordinary home using book motifs for everything from the exterior paneling to the furniture. Absolutely amazing.

LEGO House

Location: Surrey, UK
Top Gear host James May oversaw construction of this incredible house made entirely out of LEGO bricks for a British program called Toy Stories. It was both built and torn down in 2009 (May attempted to sell it, but couldn’t find a buyer). A staggering 3.3 million bricks were used in its creation.

Star Trek House

Location: Hinckley, Leicestershire, UK
Okay, it’s an apartment, not a house, occupying just 500 square feet of space. But it’s still amazing. Tony Alleyne retrofit his home to resemble the the interior of the USS Voyager, and was so inspired by the result that he opened his own business to offer similar services to others.

Star Wars House

Location: Korea
There’s nothing about this house’s design that’s particularly geeky, but look at that decor! Collector Cho Woong tricked out his entire place with thousands (millions?) of action figures and other Star Wars collectibles.

Steampunk House

 

Location: Sharon, Massachusetts
Bruce Rosenbaum loves Steampunk. A lot. Way more than you do. And he’s got the fully-retrofitted house to prove it. This classic Victorian home, circa 1901, has plenty of modern technology that’s disguised as Steampunk fixtures. There’s an old iron stove in the kitchen, for example, that has a high-end electric stove on top and two electric ovens inside. The whole house is outfit this way, and you should definitely take a look at all this great write-up about it, along with loads more photos.

Tron: Legacy House

Location: Milan, Italy
The Tron house was an exhibition house produced by DuPont and Disney to show off the capabilities of an advanced new material called “Corian,” a kind of plastic that can be molded in any shape. The home was inspired by the home of Jeff Bridges’ character from the film, but sadly it was made to be temporary.

Walking House

Hummers are so last year. There’s a new all-terrain vehicle out there, it has legs, and you can live in it. Okay, actually this is a proof-of-concept idea produced by Wysing Arts Centre to show what the future could be like for people who want to “live a peaceful, nomadic life.” The walking house is made to utilize energy from its surroundings using stuff like solar cells.
