Periodic Table of Heavy Metals

Periodic Table of Heavy Metals

One of the things that we love to feature on ForeverGeek is the periodic table. It doesn’t even have to be THE periodic table as we know it from school. Anything periodic table works. We even have a post compiling some of the coolest versions of the periodic table you can find online. Unfortunately, the periodic table-loving community has been rather quiet in the past months, so we have had to make do with “old” ones. Today, though, I just discovered a relatively recent periodic table rendition by the guys at Pop Chart Lab. It’s called the Periodic Table of Heavy Metals. And this is not the heavy metals that Read more »

2012 Song of Ice and Fire Calendar Is Out!

2012 Song of Ice and Fire Calendar Is Out!

Boys and girls of Westeros, this is the only calendar that you need for 2012 – the year of the dragon. The 2012 A Song of Ice and Fire calendar has been released, and if you are anything like me, your heart will be palpitating in anticipation. No exaggeration here. As one can expect, there are 12 drawings for each month of the year. Drawn by renowned artist John Picacio, the images may be different from what you might expect – thanks to HBO’s Game of Thrones. However, the differences do not really take away from the breathtaking effect of the drawings. SPOILER ALERT: I tried hard to make sure Read more »

Would you play this game designed by a nine year old?

Would you play this game designed by a nine year old?

Nine year old Owain Weinert was diagnosed with a really bad case of Leukemia but that didn’t stop him from realizing his dream of meeting real developers and designing his own game for the iOS. Made possible by Make a Wish Foundation, Owain worked with the team from 4th and Battery and Popcap Games to create A.S.P — Allied Star Police. And you know what? It’s damn addicting! I’m not quite sure if the actual game mechanics were designed by Owain. If you read through the game’s history, Owain pretty much designed the game’s storyline and units but I’m not sure if he was actually involved in figuring out the Read more »

QR Codes Under Your Skin?

QR Code Tattoo Jully

I don’t know about you, but I have been seeing QR codes, or Quick Response codes, more lately. It’s not like QR codes are something new, but I didn’t really notice them being used a lot till recently. Some people in my circle of friends online even use QR codes for their profile picture. We’ve also heard about the use of QR codes on tombstones in Japan. Now what about getting a QR code tattoo? French tattoo artist K.A.R.L. is supposed to be the first guy ever who takes on the job of tattooing a QR code on another person. He did so on the 16th of June this year, Read more »

Nendoroids at the Summer 2011 Wonder Festival

Nendoroids at the Summer 2011 Wonder Festival

Every summer and winter, there is an event called the Wonder Festival in Tokyo, which showcases anime figures from various makers. While the event was originally meant for amateur figure sculptors to show off and sell their work, it has since been taken over by large figure manufacturers wanting to advertise their line-up of new products. The Summer 2011 Wonder Festival took place on July 24. Some of the more popular types of figures are nendoroids and nendoroid petits, miniaturized versions of characters with large heads. Because of their low price, high quality, cute appearance, movable joints, and accessories, it’s hard to find anyone that doesn’t like them. It’s no Read more »

Muggle Recipes for Butterbeer

Muggle Recipes for Butterbeer

It seems like part two of the final Harry Potter installment truly nailed this series as the ‘Star Wars’ of this generation. Save in this case the books came prior to the big screen. You know when something hits mainstream when the fanfare cocktail gets served in homes around the world. Of course, we’re talking about Butterbeer, that enchanting non-alcoholic drink served at Hogsmeade in the wizarding universe of Harry Potter. The drink reference is made several times in the books, but rarely shown in the movie series. Though the name definitely suggests the use of an alcoholic beverage and butter to create this drink, there is nothing alcoholic about Read more »
