New ‘Hunger Games’ Site Assigns You To a District

New ‘Hunger Games’ Site Assigns You To a District

I’ll come right out and admit it: I’m hopelessly obsessed with The Hunger Games. I started reading Suzanne Collins’ masterful trilogy this year, and found myself unable to stop. Yeah, there’s a love triangle, but it’s the anti-Twilight. Because these teenagers don’t have time for long, emo talks about their feelings. They’re too busy being forced to kill each other for sport. Read more »

Today’s The Day

Justice League #1 Wildstorm style

Well, today’s the day that the New Fifty Two (hardly the catchiest of slogans) bursts out into existence, and the first sight of it is in Justice League #1. I can’t determine whether I like it or not. Well, that’s a total lie. I do like it, I like it a lot so far, on the strength of one issue. Heck, I wasn’t that bothered about how Flashpoint ended, I just leapt straight into reading the League. It seems quite the schizophrenic experience. As a first issue, the offering Geoff Johns puts before us seems to have a lot more in common with a Wildstorm first issue than what one Read more »

The Bible in LEGO

The Brick Bible

I grew up with my mom telling me and my sister bed time stories from the Bible – both the Old and the New Testaments. I think I found the Old Testament stories more fascinating. How can one not? The creation of the world. King David. The parting of the Red Sea. There are so many riveting stories in the Old Testament – no wonder I didn’t have problems with bed time as a kid! Now, Bible stories have just taken on a new twist. The Bible in LEGO. How about that? The project is officially called The Brick Testament and is considered to be the largest illustrated Bible in Read more »

Deus Ex is Closer to Reality Than You Think

Deus Ex is Closer to Reality Than You Think

In case you haven’t heard, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is the bomb. Go get it. If you’ve already played through it, you can’t help wondering just how far off the future depicted in the game is, when prosthetic “augmentations” become the optimum human condition. The answer is revealed in this slick, 12.5-minute documentary. Read more »

Cyberlords Arcology Pays Tribute to Deus Ex and Syndicate

Cyberlords Arcology Pays Tribute to Deus Ex and Syndicate

I finished Cyberlords Arcology from Handy Games last night. With Deus Ex Human Revolution topping most gaming news the past few days, I wasn’t too sure if it was coincidence that Handy Games released this title a couple of weeks before it came out. All you need to do is change the title, and Cyberlords could have very well been a mobile version of Deus Ex in the same way that Mass Effect released a top down iOS version of the same game years ago. Cyberlords Arcology is a top down action game reminiscent of such classics like Syndicate on the PC and Shadowlords. The game gets the feel of Read more »

Fallout Monopoly

Fallout Monopoly

Monopoly. Who has not spent hours and hours manipulating his way around this classic board game? I know my sister and I have had one serious spat too many while playing the game as children and young adults. There is just something about the entire experience that brings out the competitive edge in people I guess. Yesterday, I came across what is perhaps the coolest Monopoly edition ever – Klingon Monopoly. Then again, if you are not into Star Trek (befuddling a concept it may be, I guess it’s totally possible), Klingon Monopoly probably doesn’t excite you. If, however, you are a gamer, here’s another Monopoly board that will certainly Read more »

The Hunger Games Sneak Peek

Hunger Games

I recently finished the Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins, and I must say the story is one of the best I have read since I discovered George R.R. Martin many years ago. They are different genres, but Collins’ writing is riveting, to say the least. Let’s just say I finished the three books in less than a work week – sleepless nights included. Now they’re making a movie, which is to be released in March next year, and a trailer has been released to whet our appetites. I guess I was expecting a lot from the sneak peek, but it is better than nothing. For your viewing pleasure – Read more »
