Arnold who?
Rogues gallery regular Victor Fries, aka Mr. Freeze, is putting in an appearance in Batman: Arkham City, and based on this trailer, the game is set to finally erase any remaining shards of memory that may be lingering from that godawful Batman & Robin movie.
Batman: Arkham City arrives October 18th, and by all indications, it’s going to rock your face off. Rocksteady Games has been carefully (and smartly) releasing intel about the highly-anticipated sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum, bit by bit, over the last year or so. Little by little, we’ve learned that Batman mainstays like Hugo Strange, Two-Face, the Penguin, Catwoman, Tahlia al Ghul, and Solomon Grundy are joining most of the cast from the first game. Catwoman will be (briefly) a playable character, Robin is available in multiplayer Challenge maps, and the Riddler, who memorably left mysteries all over Arkham Island for Batman to solve in the first game, plays an even bigger role this time out.
Batman: Arkham City creates a radical new storyline for Batman and his villains, picking up the story of the first game one year later. When the former warden of Arkham Asylum is elected Gotham mayor, he turns a huge chunk of the city’s slums into a makeshift penitentiary commune for Arkham’s former residents. Blackgate Prison’s population is also dumped into this new “Arkham City,” which is overseen by Hugo Strange. The game begins as Batman is forced to enter the “city” after Two-Face sets in motion a plan to publicly execute Catwoman as a means of elevating his status among the inmates.
What’s most fascinating to me about every new piece of information we’re given is that every new character that’s revealed seems to have their own, individual agenda. Observe Mr. Freeze’s interactions with Batman in this very trailer for evidence of this.
Is it October 18th yet? Me want now.
