At first I thought it sounded like Christopher Walken doing the voice for Mr. Freeze, the newly announced villain in Batman: Arkham City.
The move towards a bad-ass Mr. Freeze is long overdue with the past decade (and more) of fans associating Arnold Schwarzenegger as the campy version of Mr. Freeze from the third Batman movie. If you don’t understand what I’m talking about, just have a look at all of Arnold’s puns from Batman and Robin (1997).
WHAT KILLED THE DINOSAURS?! THE ICE AGE!!!
Mr. Freeze played as Arnold was some of the worst acting in Batman film history. You’d almost think it was brilliant to have Arnold’s one dimension personality as cold as an ice cube. Yet it’s so bad, it’s epic and memorable. And that’s the danger to bringing in Mr. Freeze’s character into this Batman franchise.
But yes. Having Victor Fries in this franchise would be fantastic.
The first thing they did was upgrade Mr. Freeze’s “freeze gun” to something more epic than an overgrown ice cube maker from the old series. Did you see how it apparently can do AOE damage?! Second — it would take a whole lot of effort to disassociate Mr. Freeze with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ham acting. So here’s what they did — veteran voice actor Maurice LaMarche adds that cold but emphatic voice to Victor Fries, a man who would do anything to restore his wife back from near-death, suspended in Cryo-sleep. Maurice LaMarche is the voice behind several of the world’s most popular characters including Inspector Gadget, The Simpsons and Futurama among many other roles. The most notable bit about this particular rendition is the apparent voice changes when he encloses himself in his … ice armor thingee. Also, with the apparent backstory of his wife being frozeon (instead of himself suffering from an accident) it makes you see a determined Victor compared to the other series.
Batman: Arkham City is the follow up to the best selling Batman: Arkham Asylum which takes the Caped Crusader into Gotham City alongside Catwoman while they try to figure out the mess within Gotham City’s penal colony.
Batman: Arkham City will be available on October 18th 2011 on the PC, XBOX 360 and PS3.

Iirc, it as always been about the wife. The accident came about as he worked on either the cryo-system or the cure.
