At first I thought it sounded like Christopher Walken doing the voice for Mr. Freeze, the newly announced villain in Batman: Arkham City. The move towards a bad-ass Mr. Freeze is long overdue with the past decade (and more) of fans associating Arnold Schwarzenegger as the campy version of Mr. Freeze from the third Batman movie. If you don’t understand what I’m talking about, just have a look at all of Arnold’s puns from Batman and Robin (1997). WHAT KILLED THE DINOSAURS?! THE ICE AGE!!! Mr. Freeze played as Arnold was some of the worst acting in Batman film history. You’d almost think it was brilliant to have Arnold’s one Read more »

This Angry Birds Cake Made My Weekend
Rovio’s game Angry Birds has been around for a while, and yet the interest level remains high. I am not sure if it is the most played game today (I honestly doubt it), but there is no denying that the game has branched out to more mundane (or not so mundane) things. From t-shirts to flip flops to bags to plushies, we can see the birds of from the game practically everywhere. It just follows that an Angry Birds cake should be in the picture as well. In fact, you will see Angry Birds cakes all over the Internet. A simple search will give you tons of results – from Read more »
Life-Size Gundam Returns to Odaiba
Two years ago, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Gundam series, Sunrise erected a life-sized RX-78-2 Gundam on the island of Odaiba in Tokyo. The Gundam was on display for two months before it was dismantled and moved to Shizuoka the next year and displayed next to the Bandai factory. While it was the same Gundam that was at Odaiba, a beam saber was added to encourage more people to come see it. Again, the Gundam was only displayed for a few months before being dismantled again. There was some speculation about what would happen to the Gundam after the second dismantling. Some people thought that the pieces might Read more »

Critters, Spider-Critters And Corporate Critters
And I don’t mean the movie franchise of questionable quality that crossbred Gremlins with Tribbles to bring yet another dimension to pest control. I don’t tend to enthuse about the titles from Big Dog Ink. Despite some very good covers which raise my expectations, tingling my ‘new universe sense’, I have always found the contents disappointing. Not always even the stories, there was some good, if fairly standard, ideas, but the scripting has always let them down, making the characters appear incredibly two-dimensional. Finally, the company has bucked the trend with Critters #1, which recently came into my possession. There’s no deep dark origin story, heck, there’s no origin story Read more »
Who Wants an Electronic Tattoo?
We all know just how tattoos can be cool, and we love them! Even though some of us are taking forever to decide when to actually take the plunge and get inked ourselves, there is no stopping us from appreciating all those wonderful works of art inked on other people’s bodies. Now what if you can have a tattoo that has the potential to be far cooler than what you can see today – both the real ones and the temporary ones? I am talking about an electronic tattoo, or epidermal electronics as they call it. This new technology is based on ultrathin electronics, which can then be placed on Read more »
Deus Ex: Human Revolution Gallery
Twenty-five years before the events of the first game, Deus Ex: Human Revolution tells the story of Adam Jensen, a security agent who’s critical injured and forced to undergo “Augmentation” in order to survive. In the future of the first game, augmentation was handled via nanotech, but at this point in time, augmentations are mechanical. So instead of an injection into your bloodstream, you get a whole new arm or leg or eyeball, for example, that’s essentially a machine. The events of this title will lead to the formation of the anti-terrorist organization UNATCO from the first game. Like its predecessor, Human Revolution will give players freedom of choice as Read more »
