Review: Gears of War 3

Review: Gears of War 3

Gears of War 3 is Epic Games at its best. Having nothing to prove, their task this time out was to provide a satisfying finale to their blockbuster game series, and it shows. With all the pressure off — Gears 3 was a guaranteed success before it was even begun — Epic was able to execute the most confident release of their career. Read more »

Browseristas: If Browsers Were Fashionistas

Browseristas

Some time last year, I shared a simple infographic showing the link between women and web browsers. Remember Firefox, the woman who gets so deep under your skin that you can’t get rid of her in spite of all the flaws? Then there is Opera, who is slim, sexy, and yet tough at the same time. Mac users will always stand up for Safari, the hottie who lets her friends in without necessarily informing you. And who can overlook Chrome, the skinny, but cool and friendly gal who, unfortunately, does not have much to offer. Last, but not the least, we have Internet Explorer who has shared a lot of Read more »

The Universe So Far

Frankenstein faces the perils of small town America

By far the greatest rash of first issues this month comes of course from DC and their ‘soft reboot‘, and I would be remiss if I failed to take a look at them. Two of the titles that really grabbed my interest are ones that I feel may be overlooked while in the store. If you miss these, it would be a great shame. Both titles promise to be ones that may disappear quickly at first glance, but if you give them a chance, I think they will sink their hooks into you just as much as they have me. The first recommendation from this week’s shipping has to be Read more »

Zombies, Run!

Zombies Run

No one can deny that Kickstarter is a great place to discover all sorts of cool stuff, and what I came across today is simply more proof. Zombies, Run! is a video game project being developed in the UK by Six to Start and Naomi Alderman. It is an iOS and Android app that is all about, well, zombies! With all the hype about zombies, I have heard of some people who simply have had enough of the undead. However, I do believe that there are still more who just can’t get enough of anything zombie-related. From movies to books to art to games – zombies have this special attraction Read more »

I Want This Fountain In My House

I Want This Fountain In My House

Jaw. On. The. Floor. This is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. I mean, it doesn’t blow my mind that something like this is possible, but seeing the incredible precision of dozens of tiny water nozzles squirting out water droplets to form shapes, letters, and numbers… It massages that spot in the brain where my inner geek lives. Serve enemies three ways with Third Blade

Serve enemies three ways with Third Blade

Action packed, easy to play and overly addicting, Third Blade gives you three ways you can choose to deal pain to your opponents. It’s not often we come across good hack and slash games on a mobile phone. Third Blade is one such rare occurrence. The game is made by com2us, one of the more prominent adventure game developers for iOS and Android. They’re responsible for another best seller, Inotia 3: Children of Carnia and Heavy Gunner. Walking through the forest, you and your girlfriend (??) encounter an army of huge slugs. After slicing up a few, you realize, in horror that your friend has been half-eaten by one of Read more »

A Night At The Opera

Farscape Ongoing #23 The secret of the Delvians.

I have a friend who is an absolute Star Wars devotee, however he is not so much a follower of the Dark Horse comics, having read most of the material in the originals novels. While I like Star Wars on the big and little screens, I too do not really follow the comics out of habit. I dip in now and again, mainly for the trades. I do however possess a grand passion for space opera, and recently I found myself pondering a lack of such stories. Upon a few moments consideration, I realised that this is not entirely true. Indeed, there are no grand operas of note of the Read more »

Bacon Candy

Bacon Candy

The first time I heard about the combination of bacon and all things sweet, I totally balked. I mean, I love bacon and I love chocolate (who doesn’t?), but the thought of putting them together does not sit well with me. When Darice wrote about Chocolate Covered Bacon last year, though, I was almost convinced. Come to think of it, I was convinced. I just have not run across the product yet. Writing this post also reminds me of Bacon Flavored Lip Balm, which really does not entice me at all. But whatever floats your boat… If you are into trying bacon in all its possible forms, then you will Read more »
