People really can make art out of anything these days. Proof positive: Bashir Sultani’s “Art with Salt,” a self-conceived art medium that the artist uses to draw portraits of famous people. And recently, he decided to use salt to create portraits of two very famous fictional characters: Nintendo‘s Link and Mario. Read more »

Loved Star Control II? You’ll enjoy Space Pirates vs Zombies
Inspired by a cult classic, Space Pirates vs Zombies is a highly engaging space sim with a lot of replay value. For those of you young enough to remember playing Star Control II, it is enough to say that Space Pirates vs Zombies brings back the nostalgic feel of that very same space sim and brings the genre back to life, updated with so many more perks that you wished were there in the 10 or more years that it lay dormant. Even though they don’t say it, SPAZ is an obvious tribute to Star Control II. It’s “that” game that the two devs are referring to. Space Pirates vs Read more »
Sneak Peek: Futurama Monopoly
A few days ago, the UPS man brought me an unexpected package. It was odd, because instead of giving me a standard UPS box or a nondescript cardboard box, this one was green and labeled “Planet Express.” Which could only mean one thing: it was a Futurama package! Here’s a complete photo gallery of what I found inside… Read more »
Still Addicted to Angry Birds?
Everywhere I go these days, I see something related to Angry Birds. To be honest, I think that the hype has outlived its use a long time ago. However, entrepreneurs are still jumping on the Angry Birds bandwagon. I have seen bags, hats, plushies, pillows, shirts, key rings, and all sorts of other merchandise with the Angry Birds characters in them. Perhaps it is an indication that a good number of people still have an Angry Birds addiction. Perhaps it’s just trying to milk the brand for what it’s worth. In any case, if you are still one of those of who have an Angry Birds addiction, then you will Read more »
GameStop Creating Its Own Gaming Tablet
Yep, you read that right. Apple has changed the face of gaming so strongly thanks to its iPad tablet (not to mention the iPhone) and download-only game apps that video game retailer GameStop is feeling the burn. In addition to Apple’s iOS, there are all the Android tablets starting to pop up. Now GameStop is getting in on the action, too — but there’s a big, honkin’ twist. Read more »
Geek-meets-Elegant in the Best Wedding Ever
How do you geek up a wedding? Add Star Wars, dinosaurs, Battlestar Galactica, Serenity, World of Warcraft, and even a hint of steampunk. The twist? You’d never in a million years expect a wedding like this one — held in a natural history museum, no less — to be so incredibly posh. Read more »
That’s Not Your Mommy Anymore: The Zombie Book for Children
I spent the entire weekend with my two nephews, aged 6 and 7 months. It was sheer bliss and utter tiredness at the same time. I guess it’s like that when you have kids. One thing I know – I want to get them this book that I have just discovered. That’s Not Your Mommy Anymore is not your usual children’s book, but it is perfect for parents (or aunts, uncles, whatever) who just can’t get enough of zombies. While I do have a very low threshold for anything zombie-related, I appreciate a good zombie story. And from what I have seen of the preview, this zombie book for children Read more »
Redline – Review
Japanese anime has long been known for its style and visual attraction when compared to other animation, but Redline is a film that takes it to a whole new level. Produced by Madhouse Studios and directed by Takeshi Koike, the film redefines the meaning of art and style in the anime industry. The story takes place in the distant future and revolves around Redline, the deadliest race in the universe. Our main hero, JP, has long dreamed of competing in the event with the help of his partner and mechanic, Frisbee. Throw in fellow racer and love interest, Sonoshee, a whole bunch of alien racers, missiles, lasers, machine guns, and Read more »
If you missed Dragon Hunter 2 for Android, get it now!
Dragon Hunter 2 may have slipped under your radar, dear Android user. I was surprised myself, initially downloading it based on the number of stars it received in the Android Marketplace, but I admit that I had to dig deeper into the list of games to find this one. I have never played this series before — I had no idea what part I was. In fact, after playing this, the “2″ seems irrelevant. Dragon Hunter 2 is a defense game where you have to defend your base against swarms of dragons. You start off with a ballista and flick your finger in the general direction and angle of the Read more »

“Metro” is the codename of this Fall’s annual Xbox Live update, which among other things is going to make your dashboard look an awful lot like Bing mixed with Windows Phone 7. Here’s a breakdown of the major changes you can expect. Read more »
