Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer has version for iOS

Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer has version for iOS

Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer is by far one of my favorite card games. It’s right up there with 7 Wonders and Bang! Board Game Geek has awarded Ascension: CotG 3.5 stars out of 5 and the good news is that they full game is now available on iOS for a mere USD $4.99. The physical game costs USD $27.99. Ascension: CotG is a deck building game for 2-4 players. The game was designed by a handful of Magic: The Gathering Pros and they wanted to build a fast-paced card game that didn’t rely on who had the better deck beforehand. Instead, players start off in equal footing and build Read more »

Unexpected Pleasures

The Unexpected #1, a new return to comics' horror.

This has to now be my favourite shipping week of the month. Frankenstein, Agent Of S.H.A.D.E., Demon Knights, FF, Legion Lost (which is growing on me), Suicide Squad, just to name but a few. Infestation Outbreak concludes this week, plus we get to see the shape of the new X-Men status quo in X-Men Regenesis #1, at least for as long as it lasts. I give it four months, just enough time for them to all fight each other then kiss and make up. I don’t know if you have looked at Spider-Island at all. Now, I’m not a regular Spider-Man reader. Like the rest of us, I cannot help Read more »

Awesome Fan-made Voltron Short Film

Voltron The End

For those who grew up watching Voltron, the prospect of a new Voltron movie is something that gets them going. Indeed, news about the new movie has been circulating for the better part of this year. While the new Voltron movie has been confirmed, nothing specific has been said about it. You know, like the important details such as the release date! I guess some fans are getting impatient, and they are looking for ways to make themselves useful while waiting. If this fan-made Voltron video is anything to go by, then fans ought to be given a role in making the new film! Called Voltron: The End, this short Read more »

Batman: Arkham City – The Stories Behind the Costumes and Characters

Iconic '70's and 80's Batman

The release of Batman: Arkham City promises to be a drawing together of disparate aspects of the Batman mythos only seen before in the pages of the Superman and Batman title when DC’s reigning duo have fallen prey to the antics of our favourite imp, the unpronounceable Mr Mxyzptlk. Each potential skin for the main player character available represents a pivotal era of the Caped Crusader’s history that has brought us to the cuddly, borderline paranoid schizophrenic, control freak Batman that we know and love today. Denny O’Neil and Neal Adam’s Batman This is the Batman of history that many of us will recall, with the iconic yellow surround of Read more »

The Geek Guide to American Football

Football Flowchart

It’s officially called “The Non-American’s Guide to American Football”, but I think my title will do just as well. The Geek Guide to American Football. It sounds good, and after all, there might be one or two of you who have found themselves in the position that Leonard of The Big Bang Theoryfound himself many seasons ago. Remember that scene where he had his nose buried in a football for dummies book? Suddenly Sheldon jumps in with his football knowledge. You do not have to admit it publicly if you don’t know anything about American football. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I honestly don’t know much except for Read more »

A Look at Deus Ex’s ‘Missing Link’ DLC

A Look at Deus Ex’s ‘Missing Link’ DLC

This month, Eidos Montreal is giving us all an excuse to go back to Deus Ex: Human Revolution (which we’re crazy about, don’t’cha know) with a downloadable content pack called “The Missing Link.” In it, we find out exactly what Adam Jensen did during his missing three days between Shanghai and Panchaea. And from the looks of it, it wasn’t a vacation. Read more »

Almost For Real Disney Characters

Real Ariel

Disney has always been a source of inspiration for various artists. Whether they draw, paint, write, or make movies, artists can find a lot of angles to work on. And of course, doing something to bring the fictional characters into real life is something that has been done over and over again. So why write about it? Because Jirka Väätäinen has done such a jaw-dropping job of drawing some Disney characters. Jirka’s work is no ordinary depiction. Quite far from it. The idea was to draw them as they would appear if they were for real. The title of the gallery says it all: “Envisioning Disney Characters in Real Life”. Read more »
