Mayo Chiki – Review

Mayo Chiki – Review

Mayo Chiki is a Japanese dish consisting of fried chicken topped with mayonnaise and served with a side of rice; it’s also the title of a 13-episode anime produced by Feel that aired in Summer 2011. Adapted from a light novel series written by Hajime Asano, Mayo Chiki is a typical romantic comedy that will probably only appeal to fans of the genre. Kinjirou Sakamachi, a male high school student has a problem: he gets a nosebleed whenever he comes into contact with members of the opposite sex. By chance, he discovers that the butler (Subaru Konoe) of fellow student Kanade Suzutsuki is actually a girl, and must keep it Read more »

Aquamarine HD: Absolutely Stunning

Aquamarine HD: Absolutely Stunning

The holiday sales are really good for discovering titles that have gotten pushed down through time from the iTunes App Store best seller list. Aquamarine HD is one of them. Released September of this year, Aquamarine HD was made available for free for a limited time which prompted its rise to the top downloaded game that week. Aquamarine HD for the iPad is absolutely stunning. The graphics are gorgeous. The animations sparkle amidst the filter of being underwater and provides that exact illusion to the player that he may often get lost to simply admire the underwater flora and fauna. Watch the video. Sure there may be some uncanny things Read more »

Geek Love: Geek Speed Dating for Real

Geek Speed Dating

Some time this week, I got a mention or DM (I don’t remember which) on Twitter about a new TV show called Geek Love. I won’t even go as far as try to figure out why I would get such a message, but I didn’t pay it much attention. I hardly watch TV anyway. Today, the term Geek Love caught my eye again as I was browsing. Apparently, mainstream TV channel TLC is airing this TV show on December 18. Naturally, I did a quick search on the term, but didn’t come up with much except that it is also a novel written by somebody called katherine Dunn. The TV Read more »

Awesome Newspaper Sculptures

The Scholar

Do you find yourself attracted to all sorts of “weird” things? Of course, weird is a relative word. What may be weird to one person may be totally normal to another. That being said, here are some newspaper sculptures that I think have a weirdness to them. It is that kind of weird that you just can’t help but stare a little longer than usual. The kind of weird that suddenly makes you think “genius”! Artist Nick Georgiou is based in Tucson, Arizona and creates some astounding sculptures out of newspaper. When I first saw this photos of the sculptures, I didn’t even realize immediately that they were made out Read more »

Hardest Games of the Early 90’s

Hardest Games of the Early 90’s

Forget Call of Duty on Veteran Mode, the 90’s had some of what had to be the hardest games to date! Sure, they didn’t sport high definition 3D graphics, brilliant character modeling and gorgeous texturing, but by Jove they were controller breaking difficult! From your fast paced platforming games, to your nerve racking spaceship games, I’ve sifted the hard from the near enough impossible to flood you with memories of being stuck on that boss, or wading through that nightmarish level. Snake Rattle and Roll I applaud anyone who actually managed to finish this game! The aim was simple, complete each of the eleven stages without losing all segments from Read more »

Goin’ Psycho for Star Wars

Goin’ Psycho for Star Wars

Psychological, that is. Via a new exhibition, Lucasfilm is giving you a chance to get inside the heads of Star Wars‘ most prominent characters. Granted, the mind of Jar-Jar Binks is not a place most of us want to take a casual stroll through, but there’s some potential for psychological complexity among the likes of Anakin Skywalker.
