The Future Is Coming

Marvel Point One, and the Watcher has a home invasion

Having only finished my pile of comics from last week over breakfast this morning, I thought I would spend a moment with Marvel, or more specifically, Marvel Point One. Today we see the shipment of Avengers #19, one of the issues that Marvel Point One claims heralds the return of Ultron. Now I fail to see the connection between an Avengers membership drive (which seem to be occurring with an ever increasing regularity), and the return of Norman Osbourne and Ultron, although I would be the first to admit that the Green Goblin is crazy enough to utilise the genocidal bot. Or maybe it’s Tony Stark’s reparation of the Vision Read more »

The 2011 InfoWorld Geek IQ Test

Geek IQ Test

It’s official. I am a failure as a geek, although I have my doubts as to whether or not this torturous test is supposed to give you concrete proof about your geek cred. Yeah, that’s probably me sour graping. Yesterday, I discovered the 2011 InfoWorld Geek IQ Test, which is meant to “test your mettle where it really counts”. And where does it count? I guess the answer depends on you. I tried the 2011 InfoWorld Geek IQ Test out of curiosity, and boy, this cat has another life that just went down the drain. The first question did tickle my fancy, as it was about the Big Bang Theory. Read more »

Review: Halo Anniversary

Halo Anniversary screenshot

The original Halo was a transformative moment in console gaming. It’s singlehandedly responsible for launching the Xbox as a platform, as well as proving the viability of Xbox Live. Bungie’s magnum opus has gotten a major facelift just in time for its tenth anniversary, and it’s still just as fun as you remember. Read more »

Petri Dish Hamburger, Anyone?

Petri Dish Hamburger

I apologize upfront if some of you might get offended at some points which may be politically incorrect! You know how there are some groups who think that eating meat is inhumane because of the way the animals are bred and killed? I honestly think that the arguments are not enough to sway me, and not only because I like my meat. Now torturing animals is another thing, but farm-bred animals meant for human consumption is another thing. In any case, this is not a matter of ethics or political correctness. It is a story that boggles me as I write. If you think that McDonald’s is evil because they Read more »

The Geek Dad Book for Aspiring Mad Scientists

Geek Dad Mad Scientist

Everyone kid wants to be a mad scientist, right? Maybe not, but I think it is safe to say that there are many parents who will not hesitate to encourage their kids if they want to be geeky. Or want to be a mad scientist when they grow up. I remember the delight and excitement that was palpable in the air every time science fair period came around when I was a kid. While I was not the most innovative or creative person in class, it was always interesting to research projects that seemed cutting edge back in those days. If you are now a parent, and you want to Read more »

Guilty Crown – Riding on Waves of Success

Guilty Crown – Riding on Waves of Success

One of the new anime airing this season is Guilty Crown, a series I admire for its ability to take an overused plotline and make it enjoyable. Guilty Crown is set to be 22 episodes and is produced by Production I.G. The story takes place 10 years after the outbreak of a deadly virus in Japan. During the outbreak, the Japanese Government was unable to cope with the situation, forcing the international community to intervene and ‘quarantine’ infected areas. The result is a country divided between the healthy and those that are possibly infected. In order to prevent the government and international forces from killing off anyone suspected of being infected, an Read more »

Pac-Man Stop Motion Video

Pac-Man Stop Motion Video

I haven’t seen a lot of stuff related to Pac-Man lately. It could be because I haven’t been looking, or maybe Pac-Man is lacking heat these days. If you just love Pac-Man and can’t get enough of him, then you’ll be delighted to watch a really short Pac-Man stop motion video. Created by YouTube user eryth0rbic, the stop motion video is actually a project for a photography class. There isn’t much happening except for what Pac-Man always does: run around eating those pellets all the while avoiding the deadly ghosts. Still, the video is something that can amuse you, albeit temporarily, on a lazy Friday morning (or afternoon, depending on Read more »
