Battleship Galaxies: A classic game with a futuristic twist
I got what I wanted for Christmas. I’ve always been curious about a 2011 re-issue of Battleship but my mind was blown when Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast took the classic game I used to play when I was a kid and added a lot more depth into a foray in outer space. Battleship Galaxies: The Saturn Offensive is a tabletop miniature game that pulls you into a player vs player game of Battleship with a twist. Though it’s fit for two players, there are prepared scenarios for two teams for a total of four players. The contents consist of a several well built miniatures (themed for two factions), Read more »
No Half-Life 3 For You
The recent rumors flying around about Half-Life 3 being in active development with an announcement imminent, are total crap. But despite this, Valve is working on Half-Life. Just what iteration of Half-Life they’re working on is anybody’s guess, though. Let’s run down the possibilities. Read more »

Read an Excerpt from Book 6 of Game of Thrones!
Okay, the title is technically incorrect as that should be Book 6 of the series A Song of Ice and Fire. After HBO’s treatment of the epic fantasy series, though, I think that more people recognize the title Game of Thrones. While that may turn off some purists, I think that what happened is still a good thing for George R.R. Martin and his legions of fans. If HBO hadn’t done what it did, the Starks, the Targaryens, the Baratheons, and the Lannisters may not be the household names they are today. Anyhow, this year marked the release of the much awaited book A Dance with Dragons, which of course Read more »
Own a Real Sonic Screwdriver
“Real” being a relative term, this is indeed a real sonic screwdriver. It doesn’t emit any sonic waves, but in every other way, it’s the real deal, a “hero prop” exactly like the one used by Matt Smith on Doctor Who. You won’t believe how much it costs. Read more »
Make Your Own Skyrim Sunlight Souffle
How many hours have you logged playing Skyrim? If my Twitter (and Facebook) feed is any indication, the enthusiasm of players have not lagged all that much since the game came out. I, unfortunately, have not had the chance to play it myself although I had my hands on the game a couple of weeks after it came out. What recently caught my interest, though, is this recently launched YouTube channel dubbed Feast of Fiction. Now you do not need a lot of imagination to get an inkling of what the channel is all about, do you? It is reminiscent of the blog Inn at the Crossroads, where they feature Read more »

Indies Of The Year
Without a shadow of a doubt, the best offering of the smaller companies has to be Elric: The Balance Lost, produced by Boom, featuring not only the return of the title’s namesake, but an entire host of beings who all carry the position of the Eternal Champion. As a long-term science-fiction reader who has yet to actually read all of the dozens of Michal Moorcock books that the genius produced, this is a treat. Regular readers will know just how much I adore seeing long-lost characters returning to the fore (so hurry up Archie with your Mighty Crusaders relaunch), and unlike previous escapades into comics, this is a Moorcock tale Read more »
