Fill Your Doctor Who Void With This Browser Game

Doctor Who: Worlds In Time

We’ve got the Christmas Special to look forward to on the 25th, but other than that, the wait for new Doctor Who is going to be a long one (new eps aren’t scheduled to premiere until Fall of 2012). BBC Digital feels our pain and has supplied Doctor Who: Worlds In Time, a free, browser-based game, to help ease the wait. Read more »

Hits Of The Year

Uncanny X-Force #19 and meet teh newest hero on the block - Apocalypse!

So is it me, or have comics actually got better this last year? Despite having one week a month when I am not that excited about the shipping list, overall I have to confess that I think this has been one of the better years in recent memory. DC, after a dismal start with the entire Flashpoint event, but the DCnU started as a resounding success. Admittedly, at present all of the titles have a very similar feel to them, to a fault. Yet so did Valiant when it started, and some of the titles are really striking out well. Stormwatch for example. Marvel on the other hand have acquitted Read more »

Hanksy Takes on Banksy’s Biplane

Hanksy Apollo 13

They say imitation is the highest form of flattery, and if that’s true, then Banksy’s just been handed out a pretty nice compliment. Artist Hanksy has made a name for himself by impersonating the elusive Banksy, and one of his latest spoofs is something that you just can’t ignore. Banksy fans will know his Biplane art, where a plane leaves a heart-shaped trail. In case you do not remember, or it is the first time you’ve heard of it, here is the original work by Banksy. As with many of Banksy’s work, there is something about this that I can’t put my finger on. No, it’s not the heart trail. Read more »

Only a few more sleepless nights, and Whovians all over the world will be glued to their screens, thanks to the Christmas special, which many have been looking forward to for months now. While you wait, here’s a treat for you, thanks to a reader who gave us a heads up. Enter the Doctor Who timeline infographic. Ghost in the Shell’s T08A2 Made a Reality

Ghost in the Shell’s T08A2 Made a Reality

Ghost in the Shell (GitS) is one of those anime that totally knocks your socks off with its portrayal of advanced technology and futuristic weapons. Sadly, it was released long before the anime figure industry really kicked off. While there are Tachikomas and a few decent Motoko figures, there is one figure I’m sure any fan of the original Ghost in the Shell movie would love to have: the T08A2. The T08A2 is one of the larger “think tanks” in the GitS universe and, like its cousin the Tachikoma, uses a walker design. It sports two explosives launchers, machine guns, and a manipulator arm. If that’s not enough, it also comes installed Read more »

Christmas Gift Idea: Wearable Google Doodles

Google Doodle Finder

Ever since Google started their tradition of putting up Google Doodles – back in 1998 – people have been enjoying visiting the search engine’s home page more. At least I think that’s the case. Who can forget the interactive Pac-Man Doodle, which you probably spent way too much time playing around with? Or how about the Les Paul Doodle which allowed you to play tunes? I think that I won’t be wrong if I say that you have, at least once, wished that you could see and play with those Google Doodles again. In case you didn’t know this yet, yes, there is a way to access the old Google Read more »

Similarities Between Utena and Penguindrum

Similarities Between Utena and Penguindrum

What does an anime about fencing, roses, and revolution have in common with an anime about a mind-controlling hat, penguins, and terrorists? There is actually more than you might think. Revolutionary Girl Utena was one of the greater anime from 1997. Set in a mysterious academy, students duel each other in a king-of-the-hill type tournament in order to become engaged to the Rose Bride and obtain the power to bring world revolution. Utena, a girl that dreams of one day becoming a prince, is dragged into the conflict when she rescues the Rose Bride. Mawaru Penguindrum is one of the series making waves this year. Two brothers, Kanba and Shoma, Read more »
