The Dark Side of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Dark Raphael

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mean many things to different people, but I do know that while I was growing up, most of my classmates were always talking about “people” like Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo, and Raphael. Growing up in a household where TV was a no-no, I simply thought that they were talking about the great artists. Well, until they started talking about Splinter and mentioned turtles. One thing I know for sure – those turtles are worlds apart from these renditions I have just seen. And while kids back then thought that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles of their day kicked butt, I am pretty sure that no one Read more »

Women Superheroes Get Together for Breast Cancer Awareness

Wonder Woman for Breast Cancer

The month for breast cancer awareness has come and gone, but it does not mean that we cannot continue to engage in activities to support the cause, does it? (Oh, and no doubt wash up, but that can wait.) The first of today’s shipping is Memoir #5. I have already written of how much I love this series, and now we are swiftly approaching the conclusion. It feels like it has been Read more »

Wooden QR Code Sculpture

QR Code Sculpture

QR codes are the new barcodes, and they have gotten popular rather quickly. From QR codes in tombstones to QR code tattoos – I thought we’d seen them all. Apparently, I was wrong. I just discovered a really cool wooden QR code sculpture, which says a lot about its creator, German artist Elena Belmann. Forget about your usual 2D black and white QR code. Why would you want that when you can have a 3D structure made of wood? Seen from the top, this wooden QR code sculpture resembles the QR code as we mainly know it today. It does look more 2D than 3D at first glance, I suppose. Read more »
