It was only recently that the news about Mattel coming out with real life hoverboards came out. While the devices will only glide over most surfaces and not actually hover, the idea is still pretty cool, especially for those of us who have been yearning to have a hoverboard just like Marty McFly did. I just hope the hoverboards do not look like they have been made for Barbie!
Anyhow, if Barbie-type hoverboards do not get your attention, how about Back to the Future in LEGO? That should make you at least sit up and listen (or look). Orion Pax, a Flickr user, has been working on Back to the Future in LEGO for a year or so now. He has been posting pictures of his work, but it was only till last month that he finished some of the most impressive sets.
For his most recent Back to the Future in LEGO creations, Orion Pax (Alex Jones in real life) focused on Hill Valley, year 2015. We’re still several years short of that year, but these LEGO creations are as real as real can be. This is what Pax has to say about the entire layout:
So here as i promissed finally the pictures of the layout.
140 x 140 studs.
The whole last years work next to the other projects i finished.
Endless bricklink orders.
Endless hours watching the movie to get the things right.
Still a few things are missing i have to add until i propably present it at the LEGO Fanwelt event end of this year.
The part with the black tiles is still under construction with a few more smaller buildings, but for the last exhibition there was no space to walk around the layout anyway, so i saved some time building them.
Take a look yourself.
As he said, there are still some parts which are missing, but what he has shown so far is already impressive in detail, don’t you think?
