First Look: LEGO Batman 2

I was surprised at how good the first LEGO Batman game was. It pulled from all corners of Batman comics, TV, and film, and added a superhero twist to LEGO gameplay that made the whole thing feel new again. Join us in getting ready for LEGO Batman 2 with the first trailer and screens.

The new game is called LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, and as the title suggests, it imports more superheroes from DC Comics’ roster — most notably, Superman. It’s Supes that gets the big unveiling in this first new trailer, but I’m holding out hope that other DC favorites like Green Lantern and Flash will appear in the game as well. What’s interesting is that it appears that instead of taking this opportunity to branch out to see other parts of the DC universe, the game is still set squarely in Gotham.

So why is the new LEGO Batman game bringing in characters from outside of the Bat’s catalog? Because LEGO has recently started producing DC Comics LEGO sets, of course. Officially dubbed the “LEGO Super Heroes: DC Universe” toy collection, the new line includes all-new sets that introduce more heroes to the LEGO universe. It will be joined later this summer with a similar “LEGO Super Heroes: Marvel” toy line.

LEGO Batman 2 arrives in stores this summer for nearly every game platform known to man — PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS, 3DS, and PS Vita. Enjoy the new screenshots below!
