Monopoly never gets old, does it? And if ever you feel bored of the original board game, there are always the other Monopoly versions, at least one of which will stimulate the need to become the (virtual) economic king in your household (or circle of Monopoly-playing friends). From geeky versions of real boards to electronic versions of Monopoly, we’ve seen them all.
Well, not quite. The guys at Make Some Design1 have jumped into the Monopoly bandwagon with their Monopoly for Web lovers edition. It does what it says on the tin: web lovers just might go gaga over the board.
Just like other versions of the board game, Monopoly for web lovers changes the elements – the real estate at stake, the cards, the taxes, and so on. As one can expect, Silicon Valley is part of the board game.
And of course, social networks play a huge role in Monopoly for web lovers. How can they not be part of it? With practically everyone being on at least one (make that two) social network today, no web lover would appreciate a Monopoly version without the networks being present.
I like how the creators incorporated PayPal. Sure, it could have been one of the properties, but what with the fees that we all have to give up when using the service, it is perfectly used in Monopoly for web lovers, don’t you think?
The last time I played Monopoly, it was on the iPad. And while I spend a considerable part of my time online, to be honest, I do not know if Monopoly for web lovers is something I would go out of my way to play. How about you?

I think the most fun in the game will be pulling it out in a year and seeing how many of the web sites are still around.
I am an artist and make a piece about the monopoly game.
Please see it on my web site above. It is called “Rhetoric and Reality”.
It gives the average real price for a property in each area and is
a fun piece of art.
