The Avengers Video Game is Not What You Expect

So that video game for The Avengers we’ve been waiting to hear about? It’s not a movie tie-in (which is probably a good thing), and it’s only for Kinect and Wii U. Meh-heh?

Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth marks the comic book publisher’s first partnership with Ubisoft, The motion-controlled game will star Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, and sixteen of their fellow Avengers in a storyline based on the comic book’s Secret Invasion miniseries from a few years ago. Secret Invasion was about the alien, shape-shifting Skrulls, who had infiltrated major parts of society by taking the place of specific heroes, villains, military, and governmental figures.

It doesn’t look like this game has any relationship to the leaked in-game footage that was found online last year; that game is believed to be part of a cancelled THQ game. Xbox 360 + Kinect and Nintendo’s forthcoming Wii U console are the only two platforms the game is being made for. Which begs the question: where’s the PlayStation love? Why will Battle for Earth work with Kinect and Wii U but not PS Move?

Ubisoft hasn’t set a release date yet, but they’ve promised to show off the game and reveal more details at E3 next month. They also said that the game will be disc-based, and not downloadable.

gonna be a train wreck or at best very average and aimed at little kids. Why they didnt look at the success of the recent Batman games and try to emulate those is beyond me….
