It’s one very special day in geekdom today for there are two things we celebrate.
May 25 is Towel Day, that geeky holiday created to celebrate the life and work of Douglas Adams. The English writer and dramatist is best known for his work, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. By the way, did you know that he also wrote several episodes for Doctor Who?
In any case, today is the day that has been marked as Towel Day, wherein fans around the world simply have to carry around a towel to participate. Of course, you can also tweet about it, post on Facebook, and so on.
Here’s something even more fun: all around the world, events are being held today in honor of Towel Day. You can find out if there is something going on near you via the Towel Day page.
In other news, it is also Geek Pride Day. The button below is the perfect symbol for this day, and you can get it from ThinkGeek. It’s probably too late to order one in time, but hey, you can always use it next year!
Star Wars fans, you probably are waiting for this: May 25 is significant as well because of the release of Episode IV: A New Hope in May 25, 1977.
So what are you doing to mark this uber geeky day?
