Burritob0t Venn
3D printers have been around for a while now, with people printing out all sorts of silly things: from chocolate creations to mini mes to guitars – you name it, you’ll probably find a 3D-printed version.
But what if you love Mexican food? Why can’t you have your own custom, 3D-printed meal?
Well there is no one stopping you, and even if the effort you exert is more than the worth of a tortilla, just because you can 3D print a burrito is a good reason to go ahead and do so, right?
I don’t know if that’s what Marko Manriquez had in mind, but props to him for creating the Burritob0t, the world’s first 3D printer that can make a burrito.1
So Manriquez describes himself as a maker and interactive designer who loves food. I love how he says that the only thing he enjoys more than making cool stuff is a decent burrito. Can you relate?
It is thus no surprise that he came up with the idea of Burritob0t for his thesis as a graduate student at NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP). Enter the weird blending of technology and food.
The Burritob0t does not promise to give you the best burrito in the world, but it does offer the addition of a whole new dimension to making burritos. I think this is a situation where the adage “It’s the thought that counts” applies perfectly.
