My dad taught me the skills that allowed me to live on my own without relying on someone else to fix things (well, sometimes). Before I entered high school, I could change a light bulb, replace the rubber plate to fix a leaking faucet, and I learned the necessity of having a set of screwdrivers. Every woman needs a set of screwdrivers!
Then again, if you had a sonic screwdriver, maybe you can do away with the mandatory set. After all, what need would you have for other screwdrivers when you’ve got the ultimate screwdriver?
And no, I am not going nuts, because Whovians out there know very well that there are plenty of sonic screwdrivers to go around, albeit non-functional ones – at least not functional the way the Doctor’s works.
With BBC and The Wand Company teaming up, however, we are going to get a real sonic screwdriver. One that actually works, again, albeit in a different way.
The Wand Company is already known for making the world’s first infrared remote control magic wand, but this time, they’re putting a new dimension on things. They’re making a sonic screwdriver universal remote control.
This is no ordinary screwdriver, obviously, and it is made from high quality metal to replicate the Mark VII Sonic Screwdriver which the Eleventh Doctor uses. As long as you are on Earth, all you need to do is wave this gadget around to control devices such as TVs, DVD/Blu-ray players, and so on. The only thing I am not sure it will control is the person yakking non-stop next to you. For that, I think you’ll have to get the remote control from Click.
The sonic screwdriver universal remote control is going to be available in the United Kingdom on the 31st of August, so Whovians have to exercise a little patience. As for those of us who are based elsewhere, we might need more than a little of that. Maybe we can enjoy the Dalek relaxation tape in the meantime.
