I don’t know crap about bow ties, except that The Doctor would not look the same without one gracing his throat. Come to think of it, I don’t think I know anyone personally who actually wears bow ties! Do you?
I am pretty certain, however, that one can find the occasion to wear a bow tie at least once a year. And once you see these geeky bow ties that I ran across today, I think you’ll find reason to put one on more than once a year.
First a short history lesson. Just because I like sharing trivia I have just discovered.
Did you know that roots of the bow tie can be traced to Croatian mercenaries in the 17th century during the Prussian wars? Back then, they wore cravats, which was then picked up by the French (of course). At some point the cravat evolved. This is where it all becomes unclear. Some say the cravat evolved to become a neck tie, after which the bow tie followed. Others take the other stand – with the bow tie coming first.
Chicken or egg? Who cares when you get to wear these geeky bow ties that just might make The Doctor really happy?
R2D2 Bow Tie
The heart in a speech bubble might turn some off, but if you don’t mind that detail, this is a pretty cool bow tie.

A TARDIS bow tie? Heck yeah! This one I’d like to see The Doctor wear.
