It’s an app. No, it’s an ebook. Actually, it’s a combination of both, and it’s called The Numinous Place.
The Numinous Place is an app slash ebook project in the works, which promises to bring an adventure reading experience like nothing you’ve ever had. It’s a work of fiction by Mark Staufer, but thanks to the artful blend of storytelling, imagery, and technology, you will become so immersed in the story and might even feel as if things were real.
Oh, in case you’re wondering what “numinous” actually means, one of my best friends can help you with that. Merriam says that “numinous” is a synonym of “supernatural” or “mysterious”.1
The Numinous Place is indeed a mix of supernatural and ordinary elements, but it takes the reader – you – on a ride where you get to be part of the story. For example, you get to view and/or read pieces of evidence like news reports.
You can examine blueprints as the main character does, and create plans/theories as you do so.
You can even learn about lucid dreaming! (Now that’s something that really caught my attention.)
One more thing: one of the featured characters is Russell Crowe himself. Okay, I understand that there are some people who may not like Russell Crowe, but I think he’s one fine guy. And of course, having a name like his associated with a project can always attract more attention.
Here’s a short video sharing more about The Numinous Place.
Now, let’s get down to business. The Numinous Place is on Kickstarter. We all know how Kickstarter works by now, although the funding and perk details differ from project to project. All you need to know about The Numinous Place, you can find on its project page. Do pay it a visit now as the deadline is August 9!
