The Sweet Side of a Dark Lord [Darth Vader Cake]

Darth Vader Cake

Want a piece of that? Get in line!

Earlier this year, a life-size Stormtrooper cake made the Internet rounds. The guys who made that super cake, Oakleaf Cakes, are back with a vengeance. This time around, they pooled their resources together with DK Publishing so that they could present this astounding life-size Darth Vader cake.

Before you go all gaga over the creation (whether it’s because it’s a cake or it’s Darth Vader, you’re justified), it is worth noting that the Darth Vader cake was donated to the 501st Legion for their 15th Anniversary Celebration in Orlando, Florida. What cake could have been more apt?

The members of the Legion surely had a blast with their Darth Vader cake, but its creators also seem rather happy with their baby.

And, not to ruin your opinion of this bad@$$-looking cake, but this is the skeleton.

Darth Vader Cake’s Skeleton

Who would have thought that that simple-looking structure can become something totally different?

Lest you think the Darth Vader cake is all about the looks, here is a testament to how good it tasted.

Darth Vader Cake Devoured

Darth Vader doesn’t look so fierce now, does he?

In case you’re wondering about the stats…

Weight: approx. 500 lbs
Height: 6′ 7″
Servings: approx. 600

As for the ingredients, it is no surprise that tons (figuratively, of course) of stuff went into the Darth Vader cake.

  • 386 eggs
  • 2 gallons milk
  • 3.5 cups vanilla
  • 118 cups/ 32 lbs flour
  • 103 cups/ 46 lbs sugar
  • 57 lbs butter
  • 210 lbs of our home-made marshmallow fondant

Yup. This Darth Vader is definitely on the sweet side with all that sugar!
