Recently, an unused copy of Batman Arkham Asylum for the PlayStation 3 was dusted off and actually played. It was an intense experience, even for a mere spectator. No wonder it got such high ratings from practically all reviews (those that matter, anyway). Its sequel, Batman Arkham City received critical acclaim as well.
If you found yourself getting lost in the world of Batman Arkham Asylum and Batman Arkham City, then you will be thrilled to know that another installment is coming out this year! VG24/7 reported that 2013 will see a new Batman Arkham game. The “confirmation” comes straight from the horse’s mouth, which in this case is license holder Time Warner.
In an investor call, in which the game was confirmed, John K. Martin (CFO and chief administrative officer of Time Warner) stated:
“And we also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham game franchise. So all in all, we expect Warners to post another very strong year in 2013. And with a little luck, the year should be as good or maybe even a little bit better than 2012.”
I want to go out on a limb and say that this is for sure, but that quote does not exactly mean that we are going to be able to immerse ourselves in a new Batman Arkham game before the year ends. Even the VG24/7 game says that they have to confirm as well.
Still, with this piece of news, I think that the future does hold something pretty and dark to look forward to!
