Sooner or later, every hard drive fails. It’s just a matter of time. Consoles are offering free cloud backups of saved game data these days. Do you backup? And what about other platforms?

free playstation3 Do You Backup Your Saved Game Data? There are different ways to go about backing up your game data. As I mentioned above, both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 offer free cloud backups of all your data. Sony even allows gamers to connect an external hard drive via USB and directly transfer data from the PS3′s internal drive. iOS gamers get all of their data backed up to both their Macs and to iCloud, if they choose.

But PC and Mac gamers are pretty much on their own. You might have a backup device that automatically backs up your data on a daily basis. But the best and most reliable option is backing up to the cloud. Of course, this means paying a subscription fee for a cloud servers services, but there are reasonable deals out there. Finding them can be tricky, but there are websites out there that can help narrow down the best deals to suit whatever gaming device you like.

So let’s hear it, Geeks. Do you backup your games? What method/service do you use?

Or do you fly by the seat of your pants, and forgo backing up altogether?

Playing without backing up is not recommended. Nothing sucks worse than losing all your hard earned XP points and in-game gear, all those hours upon hours of leveling up, because of a dying hard drive.
