TARDIS Home 470x305 Geeky Homes Inspired By Movies & Television

Could there be a more hardcore expression of fandom than building or designing your house around your favorite movie or TV franchise? We think not. Here are 10 of the world’s most awesomely geeky homes.

Fortress of Solitude House

In Harrison, New York, you can find this ultra-modern home that was bought in 1998 and remodeled to resemble Superman’s famous Fortress of Solitude. The original home was covered in cedar siding, but the new owner had that a “malleable material” installed over the siding, so that the walls could be molded into sharp angles and geometric shapes. Pirates of the Caribbean House

This huge, castle-like house in Duluth, Georgia has its own pirate ship, treasure cave, and beach-side pool, all inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean. [Image source]

Doctor Who TARDIS House

There are so many TARDIS homes, it was hard to pick just one. We don’t know for sure if this Ireland house is actually influenced by Doctor Who‘s time-traveling TARDIS, but come on. That shade of blue is unmistakeable. Even the shingles on the roof are blue! If the Doctor were to ever settle down and retire, we can’t imagine a more fitting abode. [Image source]

The Lord of the Rings Hobbit House

I want to live in this home. Bad. The Hobbit Hole house of Pennsylvania takes authenticity to a whole new level. Seriously, click through the link and check out pictures of the inside. It’s insane how much it looks like the real thing. [Image source]

Star Trek Starship Enterprise House

The influence in the Enterprise house is less obvious than others on this list, but the owner of this Australian home swears its sweeping lines and open space were directly influenced by his lifelong passion for Star Trek. I think it’s supposed to be similar to the ship’s profile if you look at the show from the top down. Maybe. [Image source]

Up House

The bright colors and old fashioned design of the home owned by Carl Fredricksen in Pixar’s Up is perfectly recreated in this Herriman, Utah house. It’s not a casual resemblance or “somewhat inspired-by” thing; this home was literally built to be identical to the one in the movie — inside and out. All that’s missing are a few thousand balloons. Check it out. [Image source]

The Simpsons House

Built as a prize for a contest geared towards fans of the series, this candy-colored house in Nevada was made to look exactly like the cartoon home of The Simpsons. Too bad the winner sold the house to a new owner who repainted it with more muted colors. [Image source]

Star Wars Star Destroyer

Near Lake Tahoe, this converted gas station is tucked away in the snowy mountains. Given its origins, it’s unlikely it was made to resemble the iconic Star Destroyer from Star Wars, but it’s impossible to ignore the resemblance. [Image source]

Star Wars Death Star

There are several sphere-shaped habitats out there, but this one struck us as remarkably evocative of a certain moon-sized space station in a galaxy far, far away. It’s called the Logan Round House, and it can be found in Logan, Ohio. [Image source]

Star Wars Sand Crawler

We couldn’t determine a location for this one, but its resemblance to the Jawa land transportation of choice is pretty striking. It would look right at home in the deserts of Tatooine, don’t you think? [Image source]
