Pacific Rim was my favorite movie last year and I’m not even kidding. I came in with zero expectations and left wanting my own Jaeger for science, of course. Who wouldn’t marvel at the slick and gorgeous giant robots that embodied everything that Transformers should have been but failed to achieve? Gipsy Danger, Crimson Typhoon, and Striker Eureka were all fantastic, but there’s a soft spot in my heart for the Cherno Alpha. Sure, it’s old and outdated, but it’s got all the attitude I would ever need. Thankfully, LEGO artist Jason Corlett is a major fan too. He built a custom Cherno Alpha with nothing but LEGO. It’s almost three feet tall, with “no-less than 5,000 pieces”, and the whole thing took “roughly 70 hours to build.” Now that’s dedication.
