Movies have improved in leaps and bounds over the years. In fact, it’s hard to imagine going back to the bygone era of films where quality was denoted by top-notch acting rather than computer generated special effects. The pair discover that channelling male aggression through fighting acts as a form of therapy. The concept explodes and underground ‘fight clubs’ start popping up everywhere. Be prepared for a lot of twists in this knockout movie.

9. The Lord of the Rings : The Return of the King

Frodo, Gandalf and the rest of the chums are back in this sequel to the acclaimed Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring film. Based on the epic Tolkien book, The Return of the King sees Frodo and Sam following the ever shifty Gollum towards Mordor, unaware of his divided loyalties and lust for the one ring that rules them all. Meanwhile, Frodo’s other companions find themselves in a great battle against Sauron’s newest ally, Saruman.

This black and white movie is a classic, despite the fact that almost the entire film takes place in one room. Based on the play, 12 Angry Men tells the story of 12 jurors chosen to consider the verdict in the murder trial of a young Spanish-American. What starts off as an open and shut decision soon unfolds into an enthralling mini drama with each juror having his own part to play.

7. Schindler’s List

The second black and white movie in our line up, Schindler’s List is a harsh reminder of the treatment of Jews in Nazi Germany. The main character, Oskar Schindler (Liam Neeson) is a greedy German businessman who becomes the unlikely saviour of hundreds of Jews when he turns his factory into a refuge and halts their inevitable journey to Auschwitz.

6. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Clint Eastwood plays Blondie (the good), a gunslinger who teams up with a guy named Tuco (the ugly) to make money off of the latter’s bounty reward. The pair soon learn that a significant amount of gold has been buried in a cemetery, each having his own piece of vital information relating to its exact location. As such, the duo need to keep each other alive in order to get their hands on the stash. Meanwhile, Angel Eyes (the bad) discovers that the pair is searching for gold and follows them closely.

5. Pulp Fiction

Quentin Tarantino makes great movies and Pulp Fiction is no exception. The film sees the lives of several seemingly unrelated people intertwine with devastating, funny and downright entertaining results. John Travolta, Samuel L.
