Giveaway for Zombie Book Lovers: The Enemy Series

The Enemy Series

The Enemy Series
There’s nothing like curling up with a good zombie book and all the coffee that you want, is there? We’ve been giving away lots of stuff in the past months, but I think it’s about time that we make book lovers happy – provided that you like zombie stories (who doesn’t???).

This week, we’re featuring the work of British author Charlie Higson, an acclaimed comedy writer, producer, actor, and genuine James Bond aficionado. He is the author of the adult thrillers Full Whack and King of the Ants; the internationally best-selling Young Bond series: SilverFin, Blood Fever, Double or Die, Hurricane Gold, and By Royal Command; and five books in the Enemy series. Charlie is a fan of zombie movies and believes that we shouldn’t try to prevent young people from experiencing fear, because it helps prepare them for later life. When writing The Enemy, he kept racheting up the action and description in an attempt to frighten the pants off his ten-year-old son.

Cool dad, or what?

The Enemy Series

The Enemy Series approaches the zombie idea from another angle:

When the sickness came, every parent, policeman, politician – every adult fell ill. The lucky ones died. The others are crazed, confused and hungry.

Only children under fourteen remain, and they’re fighting to survive.

A gang of children begin their quest across London, where all through the city – down alleyways, in deserted houses, underground – the grown-ups lie in wait.

I don’t know about you, but even if you’ve never heard of the series before, that short description makes me want to read all the books in the series.

Unlike A Song of Ice and Fire, which is making us wait for the next book for the longest time, the fifth book of The Enemy Series just got released, so there’s no wait needed.

The fifth book is titled The Fallen, and here’s what it’s all about:

As the chilling Enemy series continues to build toward its grand finale, the kids who have survived the diseased grown-ups grow more desperate for food, for a cure, for hope of any kind . . .

First the sickness rotted the adults’ minds. Then their bodies. Now they stalk the streets of London, hunting human flesh.

The Holloway crew are survivors. They’ve fought their way across the city and made it to the Natural History Museum alive–just barely. But their fight will never end while the Enemy lives, unless there’s another way.

The kids at the museum are looking for a cure. All they need are medical supplies. To get them they must venture down unfamiliar streets, where it isn’t only crazed, hungry sickos who lurk in the shadows.

In this fifth terrifying entry in Charlie Higson’s Enemy series, suddenly it’s not so clear who–or what–the enemy is.

I’ve never read the book, but I’ve listened to the audio book a couple of times. I think it’s one of the best!

Have to go with Alice – Shaun of the Dead is simply amazing. Best zombie film ever! Though I also love Walking Dead…

It’s interesting to consider you might have read books, that other people haven’t read and probably few others have actually heard about, what’s significant, is the fact you’ve entered them and come out of that encounter enriched for it. Growing as you become emboldened through the experience of participating in a different mindset for a while, that’s the authentic power of a great book!
