Microsoft and Fox inked a deal that will bring Fox shows, including the greatest cartoon comedy on television (IMHO, as always) to the Xbox Live Marketplace. Starting September 2, 360 owners will be able to get episodes from the first two seasons of Family Guy from the Marketplace for 160 Microsoft Points ($2). More Fox shows will follow later. Granted, you can pick up the first two seasons on DVD and pay less all around, but if you’re looking to buy one episode at a time, it’s a great option. Read more »

PS2 – Now Available in White – and with a horrible game ta boot!
To those of you just determined to stay in the pre-generation of gaming, check out the new bundle that Sony is putting out. For the low, low price of $149, you get all that you see above…a pearly white slim PS2, a pearly white PS2 controller a couple of jet black microphones and the critically acclaimed (um….) SingStar game. I guess this could make sense for someone on a tight budget…or something. But, seriously, either save your money for the PS3 or 360, or drop an extra $100 for the Wii. Shocking shot…plane gets struck by lightning…
Apparently, the aluminum in the plane forces the electricity to flow around it, and no plane has every crashed in the U.S. due to lightning strike. Still, I think I would have pooped my pants a little there. (Source: Coast to Coast via Gizmodo) Read more »
Lightsaber headed to space next month…
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Star Wars: A New Hope, the original prop for the lightsaber used by Luke will be going up on the space shuttle Discovery in October for a rendevous with the International Space Station. The lightsaber was hand-delivered yesterday to Space Center Houston officials at Oakland International Airport by Chewbacca himself. (Shouldn’t it have been Mark Hamill? He’s not doing anything.) In Houston, it was greeted by a legion of stormtroopers and R2-D2. This quote from Space.com made me laugh: Space Center Houston, as the official visitor center for NASA’s Johnson Space Center, plans to publicly display the lightsaber through Labor Day, after which it Read more »
Sweetest speakers ever…the JVC Quasar
What you’re seeing is the JVC Quasar. It consists of 12 separate speakers that creates a “non-directional 360 degree sound field”. Now with sound radiating equally in each direction, the speakers become invisible, only the sound emanating from them remains. This would go perfectly in the middle of my coffee table. Consider me signed up. (Source: Yanko) Read more »
Kevin Smith to take on TV
Kevin Smith has a busy road ahead of him. Not only is he working on a new pilot for the CW, Reaper, but he’s also got two pretty geektastic shows in his future. It’s been pretty common knowledge for a while now that he would be taking on an episode of Heroes: Origins, a set of six or so one-shot episodes to take place over the show’s hiatus in December. But over the weekend, ViewAskew announced that he would also be sitting in the directors chair for an episode of SCI FI’s Battlestar Galactica. It’s cool, but it is scary because it is like, “What the f—? I can’t bring Read more »

Over the weekend, Bungie employee Frank O’Connor was spotted out in Xbox Live Land playing the final version of Halo 3. So the game is unofficially out of development and more than likely will be going into production this week. Only 30 days to go! (Source: Gamers Creed) Read more »
The Xbox 360 Faux-Red Ring of Death
I had a bit of a scare last night, and I’d be willing to bet I’m not the only one that this has happened to, so I wanted to share the solution. Despite the fact that I was knocking down the door at GameStop Tuesday morning to pick up BioShock, various work, night class and family commitments have kept me from playing. Yesterday, I finally had some time to myself to sit down and enjoy this masterpeice. I cranked up my system, loaded up the disc, and waited…and waited…and waited. Then, to my horror of horrors: I had heard the rumors, but now it was happening to me. Visions of Read more »

It's Official: Trains HATE Texters
I’ll admit, I’m guilty of drive-texting on occasion. But I don’t think I’ve ever been as oblivious as this guy. Cincinnati resident Zachariah Smith was going about his normal day, trying to avoid those pesky killer trains that apparently roam the Ohio countryside. One of them caught up with him, though, when it saw that the kid was distracted while sending a text message. Trains : 1 – Humans : 0 Seriously, though, if you’re waiting to cross a train track, it may be a good idea to hold off that “i <3 u” text to your sweetie long enough to make sure there aren’t any more 240 ton metal vessels hurtling Read more »
