Sharp has unveiled it’s new TV which allows two different viewers to watch totally different content depending on whether they are sat on the left or the right of the screen. The affect is created by sending two different pictures out from the backlight, one projected towards the right and the other to the left. Sharp have added that this method of projection will allow for the control of viewing angles, meaning that someone browsing the internet will be able to limit the range at which the screen can be viewed to ensure that only they can see the screen. Samsung and LG go Wi-Fi
Both Samsung and LG have announced that they will be ignoring the traditional methods of networking and designing their initial attempts at dual-mode handsets, ones which offer the ability to use both traditional cellphone operators and internet telephony providers like skype in a single handset, for a voice over Wi-Fi protocol. The two companies are working with Kineto to ensure use of their Unlimited Mobile Access software in all following dual-mode handsets. At the moment however, Samsung are simply at the stage of securing a license with Kineto whereas LG are already in collaboration with the firm and are beginning work on initial prototypes. Microsoft to expand Media Center
MS will be launching two new devices to support their Media Center version of Windows XP. The first of the new devices will be a 3-in-1 control center, expected to be innovatively named “Microsoft Remote Keyboard for Windows XP Media Center Edition” which will supposedly incorporate the functionality of a mouse, keyboard and remote into a single unit. The second of the new offerings is a bundle targeted specifically at photography entusiasts and comprises of a single unit which offers mouse and keyboard functionality and a selection of digital imaging software which will most likely be tailored to the capabilities of the remote. MS rolling with the Penguin
Stuart Cohen, head of the Open Source Development Lab has suggested that the rumours of Microsofts collaboration with the Open Source community may be more than just rumours. He has made several comments which suggest that software from the corporate giants may only be a few steps away from the forward looking Linux environment and also added that he considers proprietary software development to be essential to the further adoption of Linux and an equilibrium must be struck between the two in order for each to develop further. Google SMS out of Labs, into Beta
Shortly after rival Yahoo released a Beta version of their SMS search tools on Thursday, Google yesterday promoted their own SMS search services from the labs to Beta status. Sempron gets 32 more bits
AMD has now confirmed that it has added 64-bit capabilities to the budget user targeted sempron CPU. The chip will be shipped with the traditinal goodies such as Enhanced Virus Protection, HyperTransport and 3DNow!. The chips will range in power from 2600+ to 3300+ and will be priced between $74 and $140 respectively. The move by Andvanced Micro Devices brings the student and family favorite into the 64-bit world and others future proof computing for low budget consumers.
