Street Fighter is a series of fighting games developed by Capcom, in Japan. It debuted in arcades and was later developed to be played in consoles such as Playstation Portable, Playstation 2 and Xbox. The game’s characters are from various countries from around the world and each has his or her own unique style of fighting. The game proved to be so successful it spawned several versions / updates, crossed over to other gaming platforms, and was even made into a moderately successful Hollywood film (of the same title) in 1994 which starred the late Raul Julia and Jean Claude Van Damme; as well as a not-so successful film about Chun-Li in 2009.
Although Street Figher has a long list of great characters, not all of them are worthy of being called “hot”. Characters with green skin and red hair may be interesting, but nah – not hot. Here’s a list of 7 of the hottest characters that ever appeared in Street Fighter.
Ryu is the main character and hero in Street Fighter and has appeared in every Street Fighter game, and every crossover fighting game involving Capcom characters. Ryu holds a black belt in martial arts and is often seen wearing a red headband and a white karate gi with the sleeves ripped off at the shoulders. He travels the globe on his bare feet. Patience is his biggest strength and his goal is to become the total master of his fighting style.
Why He’s Hot: He has a brooding and mysterious personality. Plus he has an alternate form known as Evil Ryu (who wears black, instead of Ryu’s trademark white).
Kenneth Masters, also known as Ken is one of the main characters of Street Fighter, probably the second most popular character in the series, second only to his best friend, Ryu. Ken hails from a rich family and his father, a hotel tycoon, didn’t want his son to grow up to be a spoiled brat and just rely on the family fortune. He sent Ken to Japan to train in Karate. It was while training under the guidance of Gouken that Ken first met Ryu.
Why He’s Hot: A rich kid who knows the value of hard work and humility? Why is that not hot?
Chun-Li is the first well-known female character in a fighting game. She is an expert martial arts practitioner who trained in several styles of Chinese Kempo including tai chi chuan, sanda, taekwondo, combat karate and capoeira; and is also a skilled at handling fire arms. Chun Li has a strong sense of justice and her motivation to fight is to avenge her father’s death and to protect the innocent.
Why She’s Hot: She’s an expert at several forms of martial arts, good with guns, fluent in English, has penetrating eyes, is beautiful and has the acting talent for deception. It’s no wonder she’s classified as “the first lady of fighting games”.
Guile is a Major in the United States AIrforce who made his appearance in Street Fighter in 1991. He is one of the original 8 characters in Street Fighter II and has appeared in the game’s updates. He entered the World Warrior Tournament primarily to avenge the death of his Air Force friend, Charlie, who died at the hands of M. Bison.
Why He’s Hot: You’ve got to admire a man who is willing to fight for his friends – and who’s willing to turn his back on his desire for vengeance for the sake of his family.
M. Bison is a would-be world dictator who serves as the host of the Street Fighter tournament. His main ambition is to control the world’s government through his crime syndicate, Shadaloo. Most of the characters in Street Fighter hold a grudge against M. Bison and hope to face him personally in the finals to exact vengeance.
Why He’s Hot: M. Bison wields an inherently evil energy known as “Psycho Power”, besides who else can wear something as uncomfortable as his attire and pull it off.
Vega, is a masked, claw-wielding warrior from Spain. In Japan, he is known as Balrog. Vega uses a personal fighting style that combines Japanese Ninjutsu, French Savate, American Zipota and Spanish Bullfighting. He wears an expressionless mask when he is fighting not because he wants to conceal his identity but because he wants to protect his face from any scarring or bruising that may result from is battles. The Spanish Ninja, as Vega is also known, is (obviously) very vain.
Why He’s Hot: Just look at his countenance, doesn’t he just look Hot? Too bad he thinks too highly of himself. Not everyone who’s beautiful on the outside is beautiful inside.
Sagat used to be ab unplayable boss in Street Fighter series but became a playable character later on. He is a well known muay thai expert with incredible power. Sagat stands 7’5 tall and weighs a good 330 lbs. As a teenager, Sagat won the title of “The King / God of Muay Thai” probably by spending most of his waking time training at the local muay thai gym. Sagat has one good eye (he lost the use of his right eye at a fight) and has a scar on his chest, compliments of Ryu.
Why He’s Hot: A 7’5 man with a scar on his chest and an eye-patch covering one eye – that’s impressive! And to be crowned “The King / God of Muay Thai” … what else do you need?
