Jabra Halo bluetooth headset.. or headband

jabra-halo-headset-580x688jpg Not a real fan here, sorry, but for what its worth I thought of giving you a heads-up on what’s coming by May 2009. Jabra will be releasing a stereo bluetooth headset. A lot of tech blogs have given raves about this because it seems like the only stereo bluetooth head set that is thin and sleek… just like a headband. If it would come out with a few models in pink, red, white or any pastel color, I’m sure my daughter would want one. A few male executives wouldn’t mind wearing one I’m sure, but it has to complement hair color and suit design too. :)

The Jabra HALO is a wireless Bluetooth stereo headset that allows users to enjoy wireless music and answer phone calls in crystal clear stereo sound. Featuring A2DP technology, the Jabra HALO gives users the ability to seamlessly connect to any Bluetooth music-playing device – and all 3.5 mm music playing devices – including mobile phones, Mp3 players, laptops, and TVs. -gizmodo

AK Rock Box Gaming and Storage Ottoman

ottoman3-300x225jpg

What does 38″ long by 22″ wide and 17″ tall ottoman mean? Well to some it may mean extra space to park crashing friends in a small flat, BUT now it seems the old ottoman has found new function… say in keeping your Rock Band controllers!

I’ve been to some of my friends’ homes and well, you’d see the “organized chaos” with those Rock Band controllers left in a corner, on a corner table, under the Christmas trees (ha! yes, some of them still have their trees!). Still some of them would compromise by putting it in their coat closets and (much worse) under the kitchen sink.

USB Moody 3-Port Hub + Erasable Memo Pad

uhub003000_02_ljpg

I’ve seen a lot of multi-function gadgets lately and by far this may be the oddest of the bunch. I couldn’t imagine why I wouldn’t have pen and paper handy when I’m on my desk, but then again, I can’t really tell what you keep on yours now could I? So if you are always at a loss when you need to write down something then this may be a good pal for you.

You use USB hubs anyway, so why not give your current to a colleague or friend so you can “upgrade” to this one… it’s got pretty lights :) And for the price of US$13 each, I think it’s a steal. I’ve recently passed Radio Shack and the lowest-priced USB hub sells for about US$16.

You can get yours online right here.

The Sony HDR-TG5V

tgv5_2jpgI’ve been passing by the Sony outlet store at Prime Outlets for several times now because I saw a lot of items below standard retail rates, discounts of about 15% or more! I held on my Benjamins tightly because I knew something worthwhile would be available this spring… well, it seems like a good idea after all.

The Sony HDR-TG5V is one definitely to crave for. I like how 6-hours of video can fit into this small “toy”. Oh I could almost imagine the comfort of not having to download to my Macbook every time I needed more space. And the comfort of slipping it into my jacket, or even my pant’s sidepockets too. It beats those clunky and huge handicams by several shots.

Efergy eLite Wireless Energy Monitor

efergyelite_frontjpgTough times today I know and by the time you read this, you may have already been thinking of how you can monitor the amount of electricity you use everyday.

Rumors are circulating in your division that there would be cuts, some have to be let go while some would probably need to punch-in a little less than the usual 8-hour day. You’re not alone, it’s happening worldwide.

If you see your cashflow in the possible decline in the next few months, it IS wise to start monitoring money going out. A big chunk of your budget goes to home energy, and you’ve got to begin monitoring that area right now.

The Efergy eLite Wireless Energy Monitor attaches easily to your power meter AND is able to wirelessly send data to a portable receiver (200 ft away) telling you how much the cost of electricity per hour you are currently using.

You can check it out right here. Available only for the UK but hopefully will hit the US and other markets soon.

Clicking “anonymously”

8a7211bjpgThere are some angles that is best taken from an odd place. Candid shots come to life when you aren’t caught trying to take it. And the spy lens does help you take the shot that can be the good laugh of the party. Okay, okay… it can be used for “other” stuff too.

Meant to fit the end of your SLR’s zoom lens, this guy has a secret cut-out on the side and a precision mirror assembly inside. In short, you can shoot left, right, up, or down (it swivels 360 degrees), all while appearing to shoot straight ahead.

Price range is about US$85 for the lens and the adapters, quite cheap for something that can give you something totally different from the traditional. It’s available for reservation right here. Yeah, they sold out way too fast!

Desperate for the beach?

usb_shaking_hipjpgAlright cubicle dweller… if you’re too desperate to escape to a warm tropical beach to get the tan you deserve… well, you just can’t! You have a deadline, you have the world’s most annoying boss AND that pink slip is peeking to feed you with the dreaded Donald-Trump line “you’re fired!”

Give reality a stab by “at least” mocking it. While admittedly useless and definitely odd, the USB-powered shaking hip may just save you from your gloomy fate. Sure it’s not got any function … but at least, it’ll make you smile for a while.

It will be available first in Japan for about US$15.

Multi-shape Cobra Stand

cobra-standjpg This is a little odd for me, honestly. But if you’re a gamer who just couldn’t stand being apart from every stage/level your game has to offer, well this may be your cure. Strap the multi-shape Cobra Stand around your waste and you’d never be apart from your screen… “congratulations”. :)

Samsung joins the e-reader gang

p1030688-smalljpg A little late in the game but it’s a good thing, everyone likes options, options, options. Samsung’s upcoming reader, The Papyrus, is creating such a stir in the industry these days as most major gadget/tech blogs have written a lot about it.

It has been told that the Papyrus has office applications like the calculator, scheduler, and contacts… it’s a mini-PDA isn’t it? Oh yes it is! It will launch as a touchscreen device too, now that’s awesome. The Papyrus is an A5-size e-ink device (it’s 5.8 inches by 8.3 inches while the entire Kindle 2 measures 5.3 inches by 8 inches with a 6-inch screen). It’s set to finally launch first in Korea by June this year. It will be available in several basic colors (white, black and green).

There are guesses that it will sell for about US$299… cheaper than the Kindle and Sony’s e-reader.

Internet Explorer 8 finally RELEASED!

ie8-screenshotjpg

Well, the wait is finally over. Microsoft has just announced the official version of Internet Explorer 8. I really believe this is something that IE needs, and this is the most “open-sourced” version it has. It has greater security features that help the typical user protect himself from the simplest to complicated vulnerabilities.

What surprises me is the “private browsing” option. With a click of a button you can tell IE not to store websites you browse from the history list. This was one of the things I loved about Apple’s Safari browser and I’m glad IE has caught on!

USB Cup Warmer + USB hub

usb-cupwarmer-hubjpg At first glance you’d probably snicker at the genius behind this, but give it a chance, let the idea sink in. It isn’t “bad” to have warm coffee with you specially when you’re in a tight deadline to the point that your fingers couldn’t leave the keypads. It’s heaven to grab that java after pounding for a good 20-30 minutes to finish a section of code you couldn’t resist *not* to finish.

The CVSB-K22 cup/mug warmer has black tone insulation material around the metal heating plate for safety along with a red status light to let you know when the heating plate is active. After warmed, the warmer keeps your coffee/tea at a constantly warmed temperature for your continued enjoyment. Also useful for small mugs of soup, oatmeal and congee (we tested it here). Simple on/off switch lets you turn it on and off without having to unplug any cables. All that is needed is a simple USB port to plug into and you are ready for the long workday or night ahead.

What makes pleasing sense here is the availability of 4 extra USB hub ports… yeah it also works as a USB hub!

Great to gift the geekiest of geeks in the building!

Grab one right here for US$43.65 for a set of 5.

The Peek Pronto

peek_greyjpg

If you’re the kind of geek who needs to stay connected to email “at all times” then the Peek Pronto is your buddy. It’s an upgrade from the old peek device. Remember The Peek during the pre-Christmas sale. I wasn’t surprised that it didn’t push real well at Target and Walmart. People aren’t too pleased to just having 2 email accounts thru a single Peek device, they wanted more.

And so the Peek manufacturers upgraded a few features. Aside from more colors (charcoal black, aqua blue and black cherry), the Peek Pronto has upgraded email account setting from 2 accounts to 5.

Protect your car by “ugly-fying” it

topjpg This has got to be one of the craziest ideas I’ve heard so far. An idea that would discourage anyone from stealing your car. If you drive a 2008-2009 model of any brand AND just couldn’t afford too much insurance on your prized possession, hey, you may opt to “ugly-fy” your car and opt-in to a lesser insurance bracket.

These are stickers that graphically project rust and other wear and tear condition a 10-15 year old car could have. Call it the scars of time. The only downside I see is when you actually want to flash your car around… like say, on a date! These stickers doesn’t seem to be taken off that easily. Oh and ouch on paint scratch if you pull too fast too soon.

T-Mobile 3G/Wi-Fi USB

tmodongjpg I’m a T-Mobile user and I’m really happy that rumors are circulating about T-Mobile’s 3G laptop USB sticks. I think I’d head on to the T-Mobile kiosk tomorrow for a looksie and a confirmation. I’m just a little too tired that it’s AT&T who’s spread out in Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts and umm… Subway. Now… I can use the internet everywhere.

Oh… rumors have said that this service will be available in a few hours… so watch out for it!

USB 3-in-1 Rota-Rota Combo Hub

usb-rota-rota-hub_1jpg Like you I also tilted my head and exclaimed “now what would this contraption be…”. It is a little odd, isn’t it. But hey, there are things that are made with a purpose and for this combo hub it is this:

While you’re using 1-3 of your USB flash drives you may have the urge of checking out the temperature in celsius or fahrenheit. Using 3 USB flash drives side-by-side can produce heat to “melt” them down.

Seriously, I kinda thought this was a little clunky for a hub station. It seems that the USB cable isn’t long enough to store away from your workstations. If this be the case, then it will occupy a lot of table space. OUCH! Now IF IT HAD wifi built in, it would have been another story.

There are other more sensible solutions out in the market today that lays the design in style. But for what it’s worth, feel free to check it out right here and possibly purchase one (?) for US$15.95.

Clocky : Wake up to chase him :)

clocky__93383 If you’re anything like me when the alarm clock rings you’d probably hit the snooze button too many times. I remember hitting it at 6am, then 6:10 and finally… 8:30am! The horror of quickly racing through the morning rush just to make it to work on time.

Now I’m not too sure if I’d be happy with Clocky, but he seems to do the job for people like me. He works by setting off a pre-set alarm (the first one), and allows you to hit the snooze button once. But don’t let that kindness fool you… he’s equipped with wheels and can quickly drive off your side-table to sound an alarm 10 feet away. You’d have no other means to shut him off but actually get up, pick him up, and shut him off. Well, unless you’d like to SHOOT him off, that’ll work too. LOL.

Clocky is US$42.71 right here.
