Judge blocks Anti-Piracy Ruling

I am not someone who condones piracy, but this is very much a good thing for consumers. Basically, there was a recent decision by the FCC to force all manufacturers of Televisions (and anything capable of receiving a TV signal.. that’s right computers too…) to install technology capable of interpreting a “broadcast flag” that would signify a program was not to be allowed to be recorded. ISPs blocking VoIP?

This tidbit is actually about a week old and may or may not be really happening (There is some speculation on the Broadband Reports Forums), but I thought it was worth mentioning anyway. Basically, Vonage is claiming that some ISP(s), who currently remain nameless, are blocking their service from their networks in order to offer a competing service of their own. Even the idea of this has a lot of people frustrated and concerned, and rightfully so. If this is true, and some providers are doing this sort of blocking, then hopefully the FCC will step in and tell them to stop it. Read more »
