Christmas is all about sugar and spice and everything nice, but why not add a little more spice to it – geeky spice?
Any sci-fi enthusiast will have read Frank Herbert’s Dune at least once and will know any reference to it. If you’ve got sci-fi geeks in the family, then you absolutely have to add this Spice-stuffed Sandworm Bread to the Christmas dinner menu.
1 1/2 cups warm water
2 tbsp yeast
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp cinnamon
¼ cup slightly cooled melted butter
2 tsp salt
6 ½ – 7 cups bread flour
2 tbsp garam masala (or pumpkin pie spice, or Chinese five spice powder, as preferred in your sietch)
2 tsp cinnamon
3/4 cup brown sugar (or 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup white sugar if you want it less sticky)
1/4 cup melted butter
sliced blanched almonds
1/2 cup raisins (optional)
3/4 – 1 cup powdered sugar
¼ cup water (reduce to 1-2 tbsp for an extra thick glaze)
1 tsp cinnamon or garama masala
1 tsp vanilla extract

Don’t worry. I don’t think the bread will turn your eyes blue. Unless you eat it every single day maybe.
