Boutique Academia has an impressive collection of accessories for both men and women – accessories which are “smart but subtle”. For now, they only have jewelry pieces, but they aim to have more accessories in the future – something that I am sure you will look forward to after seeing reading this post.

Talk about smart but subtle – what do you think these earrings represent?  Trees?  Mother Nature?  Close enough. Hint: the earrings represent a cell that is electrically excitable and transmits information. This pendant-necklace is a little less subtle as the previous items as no one can miss the label. Adrenaline junkies will not be able to resist this one. While I am no adrenaline junkie, I have to say that the red got me. The necklace goes for $21.99.

Serotonin is the happy chemical, and this pendant-necklace will certainly contribute to one’s happiness – for the same price as the Adrenaline necklace.

If I had to choose, though, I would choose Theobromine – the chemical found in chocolate. Let’s speak Greek for a bit. The root words are: theo, which means God and brosi, which means food. Chocolate? Food for the Gods. I’ll settle for food for ME.

I don’t know if you decorate for Christmas – I don’t. If I were to put up my own tree, though, I already know what ornaments I would be using. For those of you who are yet to put up their trees or are in the process of doing so, here is a bunch of tree ornaments that you just might want to grab.

This set of game controller ornaments was a big hit last year when they were put up for sale at an Etsy shop. They also come in white and black (white shown below).

Pac-Man Angel

Que horror!  I am not into angel figurines (and yes, I do believe in angels) but I don’t have anything against them either.  When something looks like this, though, I don’t know who should be horrified more – angels or Pac-Man!

I don’t get it. I just don’t.  I don’t even have to add a description to this photo.  These puppets are plain awful.  They’re not even funny! (Although I don’t know if funny was what the creator was going for.)

Pac-Man Lingerie

How can you go wrong with lingerie? Well, one look at that photo and you’ll know how. I don’t know, maybe it’s because I don’t like purple all that much? Purple and yellow – even worse.  The whole look just makes me want to put my hands over my eyes.  Or maybe it’s just me?

So what do you guys think?  Are these Pac-Man things absolutely distasteful or am I just overreacting?

Disney believes that the look of  Tron: Legacy is the future of fashion accessorizing, and is ready to make the future today. Hence, this collection of fine jewelry and couture inspired by the movie.

Disney Consumer Products has partnered with high-end designers like Rousseau, Hayden-Harnett, Rotenier and TomTom to create what they call “luxury accessories for women,” many of which are based on the look of Tron‘s female lead, Quorra (played by actress Olivia Wilde). And when I say “high-end,” I mean it: prices start at $90 and go up to $2,600.

Disney is also launching a store in November in Los Angeles that they’re calling the “Tron Pop-Up Shop.” All of the items in these new product lines will be for sale there, along with other limited-edition merchandise based on the movie.

They are now selling leather motorcycle suits – for both men and women – that I think are pretty cool.  The next time you have a costume party (Halloween’s coming up!), you just might win costume of the night!

Even gadget manufacturers go out of their way to further the cause (of course, we know that money is still somehow involved in all this), and come up with special edition pink versions of their products. I wouldn’t recommend going as far as buying a pink laptop if you are not really into pink (confession: I DID buy a pink MSI Wind because I wanted the netbook and it was not available in any other color.) Here are some things that I would recommend, though, if only to show your support.

For those who have a geekier side, however, I am pretty sure that the “Ever Increasing Watch” will prove to be more appealing than any of the watches produced by the manufacturers mentioned above. One look at the Ever Increasing Watch will make your curiosity rise like the water in a river after the rain.

Designed by EleeNo, the watch does tell time, albeit in a non-conventional manner. Graph-loving people will be delighted at the line graphs that take the place of the traditional hands of a clock. Instead of the hour hand, you get the blue line graph. Each dot represents the hour. In lieu of the minute hand, you get the yellow and red line graphs. The yellow graph represents the minutes in 10s, while the red graph represents each minute. It’s that simple, and I love the idea!

For people who want to be able to tell time in an easier manner, the makers of the Ever Increasing Watch incorporated a small number under the most recent dots in the three graphs. I think they should just have left that number out. It kinda takes the fun out of figuring out the time, don’t you think? Oh, and yeah, they could have thought of a more creative name!

Normally I’d write this over at Apple Gazette – your source for excellent Apple news, reviews and commentary – but let’s face it; there’s nothing geekier right now than the iPad. I originally thought that it wasn’t worth my time. There was no reason for me to get an iPad when my laptop and iPhone do everything I need them to do. I just didn’t see a fit for it in my life, frankly, and I didn’t want to spend the money.

I did this same thing with the iPhone. God, did I want the iPhone badly, but it just didn’t fit all of the qualifications that I wanted in a device. I figured that if it was an iPod and a phone in the same package, then I wanted it to replace my 40GB iPod Photo entirely. Plus there was no MMS and no other compelling reason to buy the thing – at least in my case. But I spent the next year trying it out, playing with it at the Apple store and slowly falling in love. When the 3G came out, I figured it was mostly all the way up to my requirements, so I jumped on it. I loved the thing so much that I bought a 3GS when they came out, too.

Now it’s iPad time, and I’m in a familiar situation. This time though, I know what I’m getting into. It’s a new device with limited usage. It wouldn’t replace my laptop in travel situations, nor would it be my device of choice for hammering out blog posts. But it would be nice to use instead of my iPhone when it came time to surfing the web or playing a game. For me, I figured that two things would sway my opinion: the apps and touching the thing for the first time.

Well, the apps are here. Do a search for “iPad” in iTunes and you get the screen pictured above. Take a look at WeatherBug Elite for iPad and tell me that’s not one of the most gorgeous things you’ve ever seen. Twitteriffic for iPad? C’mon. Done deal. The final nail in the coffin for me was At Bat 2010 for iPad. Seriously, I could watch the Red Sox from my desktop and have all the stats I want on hand. Brilliant.

Alright, so the Apps are a done deal. What about touching it? Well I, like everyone else out there, won’t get a chance to touch it until this weekend. But when I get the chance, I’m gonna touch it so much that it’ll have to get a restraining order. I think that it’s going to quickly become a situation where, like petting a puppy for the first time, I touch it and want it.

There’s just one last hurdle here, and that’s the price. I’ve already decided on a 3G model, so I’m instantly in the upper price range. Then there’s the memory. I said 64GB, but truth be told, 32GB might fit just fine depending on how I use it. I doubt it’ll be for playing my iTunes playlist, but it’s definitely made for movies so that will suck up some storage. Then there’s all the books and apps I’ll be getting, mostly for reading to my son and playing games. It’s between 32 and 64 for me, so now I just have to decide if the price is worth it.

But now, unlike with the iPhone, I know I want it. Now I just have to decide on the when part.

Ba-Donka-Donk Mouse

We all know how important it is to have a nice behind, and this mouse epitomizes that. I need a new mouse. I wouldn’t mind having one of those behind for real. I’ll settle for the mouse. I am sure a lot of guys would, too!

Glock Remote

Alright, I am no gangsta but I can appreciate a nice gun, and Glocks are as good as they come. You have to admit, this one’s pretty cool. Just in case someone decides to rob you at home while you’re watching TV, you may have the element of surprise by pointing the remote at them!

Boombox Sneakers

They probably won’t have one in my size, but Nike + iPod don’t have anything against these sneakers. You got speakers and a DVD slot. It looks like there are ports for headsets as well. Talk about all in one stuff!

It’s a pity these gadgets may not see the light of day, don’t you think?

Couldn’t have said it better, huh? Anyhow, this company offers all sorts of personalization services for mobile phone users of all brands. Some of the more popular brands that they deal with are Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Blackberry, and HTC. They do sell the mobile phone units as well, although I am more interested in their new service of engraving messages onto mobile phone cases.

I think it’s much like the free engraving that Apple offers for its products, except that Accessory Geeks offers the engraving for solid mobile phone cases and leather casings. They currently have three different fonts: Arial, Script, and Times New Roman, which is kinda disappointing as I think they’re just too plain. Then again, maybe simplicity is the key here. Also, the engraving is limited to 20 characters, so you would have to use text lingo to cram your message in there.

Coupons are available for the first 300 customers, which will entitle them to free engraving. More so, by next year, engraving of images will be available. Now that’s something I would like to see!

Here’s a neat little invention that can solve those issues – the Neuber Energy Sun Bag. It’s basically a carrying bag and charger all in one. It has some Konarka Power Plastic solar panels on the outside, ensuring that you will have enough juice even if you go to the middle of nowhere with no electric power. All you need is the power of the sun and you’re good to go!

Obviously, you are putting a premium on convenience here. The bag weighs in at only 500 g – roundabouts a pound – with all the stuff necessary to make it function included. That will, of course, be heavier with your netbook, cell phones, mp3 players, etc. in it. The picture shown above is a basic model, but there are 36 other colors that you can choose from, so throw your fashion worries out the window!

More than the convenience, however, the idea of using solar power is definitely a positive one – you can do your bit for Mother Earth. The price, though, is not that nice as it is supposed to go for 99euros (a little over $100). If you travel a lot, I say that it’s worth it, don’t you think?

Although I am big fan of the simplicity of Field Notes, and actually a plain boring notebook use, I love the concept of this retro floppy disc notebook.

Maybe not as simple or practical to put in your pocket as Field Notes, this one’s got the looks. More than just the front, the back of the notebook looks totally ace (pictured below).

Biggest minus point about this 6cm by 6cm notebook is that it only 60 pages has and a whopping €8.50 costs. Still, the look of it is ace!

So what about mice? If you are the kind who tends to spill water (or, God forbid, coffee) on your gadgets, you might want to take a look at some of the waterproof mice in the market. One of the newest washable mice is the Cherry MW-2800. It is optical and tracks at 1,200dpi. You can submerge this baby in water and use it like new after. It’s a bit pricey at $45, though.

Another washable mouse is the one from Belkin, the F5L007. This is cheaper at $29.99 and also has optical tracking at 1,200dpi. However, Belkin recommends washing this mouse under running water and not submerging it. That means that you cannot accidentally drop your mouse into your cup of joe (yes, I have done this).

USB Geek also offers a washable USB mouse for $17. It is heavier than the two other mice and only tracks at 800dpi. Last time I checked though, this was out of stock.

So, do you really need a washable mouse? Probably not but it would be fun to have one and not worry about splashing liquids all over the place. Now for a waterproof laptop…

Speaking about Transformers, check these cufflinks out from an Etsy shop: Silver Plated Transformer AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICON Cufflinks with Gift Box.

Whether you have a soft heart and like Optimus Prime and his band of Autobots or you lean towards the darker side and prefer Megatron, this cufflinks set will certainly bring out the movie/cartoon geek in you.
