Sometimes a games real world edge is given by placing real landmarks in games, sometimes it’s accomplished with fancy narratives that sound less like a game and more like real conversations, for Malte Nemlich, making games real means providing a real life basis for those games.

Nemlich took a remote control car, attached a camera to the unit and then fashioned his own “3-D” track (as in a real track that actually exists in the real world).

Nemlich then took his arcade game design one step further, creating an actual gaming cabinet for his controls with a full TV screen to view when the car is being controlled, it even has a tilting seat like the games of old (think Wipeout).

Okay so the results aren’t perfect, but it’s still a great attempt at bringing the real world to the average user, sure it’s no predator drone, but it’s a really cool waste of time to build and I’m pretty sure anyone with a bit of time on their hands could master building their own track by following Newlich’s example.

Sure it looks a bit amateurish, but still fun! Have a look for yourself with the video below:

What do you think? Are you motivated to go and create your own version of the game, you and your friends could create tracks and see who’s challenge is the hardest to defeat.

And of course, who could forget the special dance moves that would nuke an entire screen of enemies. So that was pretty bad ass. MJ would dance with everybody and blow them up after. Can Chuck Norris do that?
