The egg-maker really nailed Bender’s look, but I can’t help wondering why Futurama‘s robot is so angry. [Source]

Binary Code

Binary code is always big among geeks, but you’ll have to decide for yourself if it’s clever or just plain nerdy. [Source]

Bumblebee (Transformers)

It can’t be easy translating the proportions of a Transformer like Bumblebee into an egg, but this one manages to pull it off. [Source]

Chewbacca (Star Wars)

As you’d imagine, there are a ton of homemade Star Wars eggs, but this one grabbed my attention with that realistic fur. Wow. [Source]

Dalek (Doctor Who)

No matter how you slice it, that is just darn impressive. How in the world did they get the eye stalk and arm things to stay on? [Source]

Death Star (Star Wars)

Never have I seen an Easter Egg perfectly convey so much with so little. [Source]

EVE (WALL-E)

Turning an egg into EVE is a total no-brainer; the character is shaped like an egg, after all. This one perfectly captures the lighter side of her personality. [Source]

The Federation (Star Trek)

The United Federation of Planets design is raised and even has a metallic sheen to it. I have no idea how they did it, but it’s awesome. [Source]

iPhone

The Apple “iEgg” is shown here front and back. And yes, if it were real I’d totally use it. [Source]

Iron Man

Absolutely perfect lighting shows off the steel/glowy goodness of this impressive Iron Man mask. [Source]

Joker

Awful photo. (So blurry!) But staggeringly good work on the egg. It captures Joker’s unpredictable malice so well, it scares the crap out of me. [Source]

Another one that manages to translate the proportions of a human figure into an egg remarkably well. [Source]

The One Ring

If Easter was celebrated in Middle Earth… well, they wouldn’t use the inscription from Sauron’s evil ring, would they. But I still love the idea. [Source]

So many Pac-Man eggs, so little time. I picked this one for its instantly-recognizable depiction of Pac-Man. The ghost doesn’t come across quite as well. [Source]

Jack Skellington (The Nightmare Before Christmas)

The anti-hero from Tim Burton’s stop-motion classic is depicted in one of his most memorable moments. [Source]

Looks like clay was added to give this one a raised “S” emblem. Very cool. [Source]

Xbox 360

Another one that left me wondering how they pulled it off. I’m sure the silver is some kind of enamel paint, but the green part all but glows. Very impressive. [Source]

Binary Wedding Cake

Obviously, this wedding cake was made for a geek couple. If you think those 1s and 0s were placed randomly, think again. The sequence is supposed to be code – a message for each other. Since we can’t really see the entire cake in the photo, we can only guess what geeky sloppiness the numbers stand for.

Binary Tote Bag

Using eco-friendly canvas bags is the all the rage these days. I actually just did some grocery shopping the other day and had to get one of those supermarket ones. If you want a cool tote bag, though, this one will do the trick. Oh, and yes, the code translates to characters…guess what? Get the tote bag at Etsy.

Of course there has to be at least one t-shirt in this list! This Binary Code Shirt, obviously, spells something out in binary code. Can you read it? If you can’t, please don’t wear the shirt. You’ll just end up embarrassing yourself. If you can, then head on over to Curious Inkling for your own.

Here’s the good news: this clock actually exists. You can buy it on Amazon. Here’s the bad news: it’s out of stock. Still, this clock deserves to be mentioned. Not only is the concept cool – do some addition in binary to come up with the time – but it actually does look good in my opinion.

We all know about the t-shirt “There are only 10 types of people in this world…”, don’t we? Here is a pin from Zazzle that adds a twist. Now don’t tell me that didn’t make you laugh! Get the pin for only $5.95.

Binary Finger

There are binary shirts, and there are binary shirts – if you know what I mean. How about learning how to count in binary rather easily? Now doesn’t that shirt remind you of a certain video? Get this shirt for $16.99 at ThinkGeek.

Binary Onesie

You’ve got to start them young, don’t you? What better way to do that with your baby (or niece or nephew, or whatever) than to get one of these onesies? I have to say that this is one of the best binary accessories I have seen so far. CafePress Australia has them for AUD 16.00.

Now Vi seems to be gaining more geek cred with her creations. Her latest video is the perfect tutorial for people who have never gotten the hang of figuring out binary numbers.

So what’s your trick when you “do” binary? Do you write the decimal numbers on your fingers? Do you have a cheat sheet? Let Vi show you how it’s supposed to be done with the Binary Hand Dance. I am warning you – you may end up having a totally different perception of binary numbers (and fingers) after watching this video. She writes that she wasn’t sure what came over her the day she made the video, but whatever it was, I want double of it.

All I can say is that if I had access to this video a decade or so ago, I would have enjoyed learning binary even more – if that’s at all possible! I will not be surprised if we hear more from Vi Hart this year. Keep an eye on her – she might be the next geek goddess.
