If you care anything at all about gaming or Star Wars, you’ve probably already heard the news: EA Games will be making all Star Wars “core games” for the foreseeable future. While many whine about EA’s shortcomings, I see big potential in what I hope EA will create.

BioWare made it official today: Dragon Age III has been in production for the last year and a half. Its full title is Dragon Age III: Inquisition, and it’s coming next year.
Okay, maybe “shock” is a little strong. Going free-to-play is, after all, what all the cool kids are doing. But it speaks to the future of MMOs if a big-budget, high-profile game like Star Wars: The Old Republic can’t sustain paying subscribers.
BioWare is standing behind the controversial (some say “convoluted”) ending to its blockbuster Mass Effect trilogy, refusing to change it, despite the pleading and demanding of its fans. But they are going to release an “Extended Cut” DLC that expands on the ending.
Mass Effect fans seem to have a serious bee in their bonnet about how the story of Commander Shepherd ends. So much so that they’ve raised $77,000+ to donate to charity as a way of raising awareness for their petition for BioWare to have the game changed.

BioWare is teaming with FUNimation Entertainment to create an anime feature film set in the Mass Effect universe. Don’t bother looking for Commander Shepard or any of his crew. This animated movie will tell a story that takes place in the game’s universe, but stars original characters created just for the film.
BioWare and Lucasarts have sent out a press release today announcing that their upcoming MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic, is being translated into the Wookie language of Shyriiwook for the benefit of “our furry friends.” By the way, did you happen to notice what today’s date is?
