Whenever I need to know how my Mac is put together, I go to the website where they take it apart – iFixit.com. As is to be expected with the release of any major new product, they got one and took it apart, all within a few hours of the iPad’s launch. So what can we glean from their tireless efforts? First, this thing doesn’t seem too difficult to disassemble. The screen comes off with a spudger, although they do report that you might break a few tabs in the process. They also note how balanced the device is, with perfect 50-50 distribution between the front and back panels. Apple Read more »

Ford "gets" the issue of tangled iPhone headphone cables, advertises Bluetooth
Some ads drive me completely nuts, but I think this one for Ford is quite clever. It displays 15 common knots, but instead of using rope it uses various bits of iPhone cabling, including the headphones, dock and USB connectors. Are you a lucky person who has never had a pair of headphones tie themselves up in knots? It tends not to happen with more expensive headphones with slightly thicker wires, but smaller earbuds and thinner wires always seem to get caught up in themselves, no matter how carefully they’re put away. Ford’s point is that Bluetooth comes with every new Ford car. While this isn’t Ford’s only ad, it’s Read more »
Jabra Halo bluetooth headset.. or headband
Not a real fan here, sorry, but for what its worth I thought of giving you a heads-up on what’s coming by May 2009. Jabra will be releasing a stereo bluetooth headset. A lot of tech blogs have given raves about this because it seems like the only stereo bluetooth head set that is thin and sleek… just like a headband. If it would come out with a few models in pink, red, white or any pastel color, I’m sure my daughter would want one. A few male executives wouldn’t mind wearing one I’m sure, but it has to complement hair color and suit design too. :) The Jabra HALO Read more »
Hyundai to launch MB-910 mobile phone watch in UK
Now look, what is it about mobile phone wristwatches all of a sudden. First we see the bizarre LG Wrist Watch Phone and then the more visually appealing bracelet phone (sadly just a concept), and now Hyundai has decided there’s enough interest to make its MB-910 watch phone. It was shown at Mobile World Congress a couple of months back and, apparently, there are plenty of people who want this blocky-looking gadget on their wrist. It’s certainly not the look I’d go for (I preferred Hyundai’s 2007 attempt, and it’s not even got the most cutting edge technology on board. Read more »
This wrist phone at least looks great
I already had my rant about the LG wrist wratch phone, but this concept design of a wrist wratch Bluetooth phone (Try saying that 10 times without stuttering!), I must admit looks cool. Designer Pedro Gomez calls it _technically_ a bracelet with watch and phone. When someone calls, the bracelet rings and/or vibrates. The entire face pops out as a wireless headset without sacrificing a screen since there’s a secondary LCD. Both LCDs are touch enabled. Read more »
Sexy Waterdrop headset
Oh, I know what you’re thinking, this has got to be the sexiest bluetooth headset in the planet. Hey I don’t blame you at all, because in my book IT IS. I’m not that all too tired about geeky headphone sets, they do serve their purposes quite well, in fact I am using one… Plantronics Explorer 360. I could tell you though that there are places I wouldn’t be caught wearing it… like if I’m in a formal event in a Tuxedo or suit. It just is “too loud” to wear paired with it don’t you think? Tiny USB 2.0 Bluetooth Doogle Adapter for PC Laptop
Saw this little dongle at Office Max the other day and thought “hey that’s a dongle I could have used 5 years ago!” when I owned a Dell Inspiron 8600 and desperately needed a bluetooth connection with my Nokia cellphone. Dell was selling bluetooth with the 8600 model for a US$500 premium, too expensive for something I’d use occasionally. Fast forward to 2008… look here, the same functionality for about US$5! The Tiny USB 2.0 Bluetooth Doogle Adapter for PC Laptop, sold here, almost vanishes into your USB port. If you’ve got a bluetooth mouse with “giant” dongles that always get in the way, this is a good replacement. Read more »
Wireless bluetooth webcam for the Mac
I am aware of how useful the iSight Mac webcam is, I believe Mac computers pioneered the embedded webcam feature on notebook computers that it has now become a standard. If a notebook computer doesn’t have a built-in webcam, it usually is ignored! Beats the hell out of occupying a USB slot and dangling your webcam on to of your notebook lid. Happy as I am there are times, though, that the iSight just doesn’t fit in certain video situation. Like if I’m on a video conference and would like to share my surroundings to my chatmate I’d pick up my Macbook and swivel it like a monkey with my Read more »
Which Bluetooth mouse is the best
Pretty soon here I’m going to go out and buy a Mac Mini, and I’m going to equip it from scratch: new keyboard, monitor, and speakers. My mind is made up on all of those items but I know nothing about Bluetooth mice. After conducting a little research, I’m leaning towards the Logitech MX900. Reviews said it is a solid mouse though it has occasional problems in games (and I game a fairly decent amount). So, are there better Bluetooth mice out there? Which is your favorite?
