When it comes to new triple-A video game releases, sequels bring in the cash for developers. So when a publisher decides to take a risk with a new IP (that’s “intellectual property” for any noobs out there), it’s big news. Capcom today took the wraps off of Dragon’s Dogma, a new IP that puts you in the shoes of a dragon slayer in a vast, open world. First thought that came to my mind: the title Dragon’s Dogma sounds like a medieval ripoff of Assassin’s Creed. But it doesn’t look like the two games have much else in common. Read more »

New Resident Evil Makes You a Villain
Capcom has released the first teaser trailer for the just-announced Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, which shows off the first glimpses of gameplay. Raccoon City is, of course, well known to fans of the series as a centerpiece to the saga, a metropolis that fell to the T-Virus outbreak and was eventually obliterated by a government-sanctioned nuclear blast. The new game is reportedly set around the time of Resident Evil 2 and 3, but Slant Six Games, the developer behind the new title, says they’re telling “a completely new story” that’s sorta/kinda/maybe set in “a parallel world.” Slant Six is best known for the SOCOM series, and they’re bringing some Read more »
Capcom 3? Why do I feel like I am missing out?
With last weeks release of Marvel vs Capcom 3 (and the brief teaser release the week beforehand), I got to thinking about the various characters that I have no idea about, not being a gamer. Read more »
Wii In Black
Why not? Everything in black looks good. Take a look at the PlayStation. It is not by accident that the default consoles have always been black. I have to admit, white does have its appeal. Then again, it doesn’t look as bad a** as black. Anyhow, the ubiquitous white Wii now has a black brother. For the longest time, the clean sparkling white of the Wii was synonymous to group fun. Its sales have reached unprecedented heights as well. Why has Nintendo decided to suddenly change gears? Read more »
Capcom aims to get your blood for Resident Evil 5
I just have to commend Capcom for thinking up of a great marketing strategy for Resident Evil 5 that actually also helps people. Capcom recently partnered with the American Red Cross to drum up publicity for the hotly anticipated Resident Evil 5, which will be released on March 13. And the campaign? Capcom will fund a blood drive with the help of Red Cross. The Capcom / Resident Evil 5 blood drive will be held at the World of Wonder Gallery located in Hollywood California. The whole day event sounds like fun. People who donate their blood during the event will get a chance to win prizes that includes several Read more »
Street Fighter IV Review (Xbox 360)
If you are a 20-something, then the chances are that you’ll have played Street Fighter II as a child. You’ll remember the vivid colours, the strategic gameplay and the host of characters with a range of fighting styles. Many, many variants later and we’ve finally seen the release of Street Fighter IV. Today’s consoles can be seen as sorely lacking on the fighter front, so another is always welcome – but does SFIV arrive and show the pedigree it should? Luckily, it’s safe to say that it does. Gameplay The characters this time around are represented in 3D and fight on 3D backgrounds. However, they are locked in to a Read more »
Namco X Capcom
Namco X Capcom is a turn based RPG that features 200+ characters from both companies like Ryu, Jin, Arthur, and KOS-MOS. I don’t know about the system, but the game was originally meant to be a Namco all stars RPG to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary. The game will also have an anime intro made by Production IG.
