You may think that Friday the 13th is an unlucky day, but I believe that whatever day it may be, luck comes to you if you help it a little. Besides, in some cultures, the number 13 is actually considered lucky. So if you are feeling a little luckless today, here’s a little pick-me-upper, courtesy of our friends from XVision. We’re giving away 3 codes for vlock, which is being dubbed as the most beautiful video clock on the iPhone. If you are looking for more than what the default clock can give you, then vlock might just be what you have been looking for. It allows you to use Read more »

Time Twister: LEGO MINDSTORMS Clock
This week is good for LEGO lovers! Yesterday, we discovered The Cult of LEGO, a coffee book table that is due to be released next month. It is arguably the best present for any AFOL. Today, to end the week, we have a LEGO creation that will make it hard for LEGO enthusiasts not to drool and embarrass themselves: a LEGO clock. This clock is called Time Twister. It was created by Hans Andersson, who is already known for his rather interesting inventions. Does the name Tilted Twister sound familiar? That was how Andersson made his name. The Tilted Twister is a robot (with LEGO components, yes!) that can solve Read more »
Twitwee, The Best Twitter Clock Ever
I don’t know how I’ve missed this so far but then again I only started writing here again, right? So even news which isn’t too old still is totally fresh, got it?! Ok. Twitwee. Sounds like Gary Vaynerchuck’s whatever online social media projects or something like that but it’s lots better. Of course it’s all about Twitter but there are no celebrities involved, even no geek celebrities on twitter. So what is it then? TV? Wrong again. It’s a Twitter Cuckoo Clock. The Twitwee Clock is a modified Cuckoo Clock that wirelessly connects to the internet and constantly checks for new status updates or search results received from the Twitter Read more »
This Clock is Powered by Human Hands
I must admit I’m a watch geek (more on this later). I’m mostly fond of mechanical watches and chronographs. But here’s something that would surely fancy the mind of anyone interested in timepieces: a human powered clock. Part of Marteen Baas’ Real Time project, the clock shows you a human hand erasing and redrawing the clock’s hands every minute. In the case of digital clocks, the person draws each digit as minutes and hours pass by. I would surely want a clock as novel as having an actual human turning the hands every minute of the day. Forget manually winding your watch every morning. How about manually changing the minute Read more »
Sexy DIY Hard Drive Clock
If your home is nerd haven and full of geeky gadgets, you might also be interested in this sexy DIY hard drive clock which you can also purchase from Etsy for $32. Recycling a hard drive and creating a unique and geeky clock is double WIN and certainly belongs in our Dept. of Awesomeness. Read more »
Ovo Projection Clock
I know it’s a little odd that you project an image of a clock to tell time. You’d agree with me probably that it seems to be short of a job to set this up too. A regular clock would just need a battery and a hook. The Ovo Projection Clock on the other hand needs a power source, a table top, the right angle, the right light environment and a smooth neutrally colored wall. Ah, the stuff we all need for geekiness. If this setup doesn’t bother you a bit, then I think you’re well on your way to be admired at how “unique” you tell time. The Ovo Read more »
Beingz Lamp And Clock: Touch To Work
It seems that my previous post on the geeky marriage proposals has affected my mood somehow. I am normally not into really cute things but these two items from Beingz just kept catching my eye. In the past quarter of an hour, I have found myself going back to Amazon and checking them out. Read more »
Weird Googly Eyes tells time
Well, the post title tells it all BUT if it wasn’t there would you have known that these googly eyes tell time? The block on the left says it’s 3:15, while the one on the right says it’s about 2:50. Can you see it? I had a laugh when I saw this, and probably this will be something a geek’s table need to animate it at a bit. It’s relatively small to occupy a small table corner, and will surely tilt everyone’s head asking “what is that!”. Sure it may probably give you an additional second or two to actually TELL time. First-glancers would just laugh at it at about Read more »
Timeless Garden
This is a clock that’s called Timeless Garden and it was designed by Francesco Castiglione Morelli and Tommaso Ceschi. Have you had the chance to ask a patch of grass the time? :) Well, this one could. REALLY! I think this is genius work. No batteries nor are there any hidden plugs behind to connect to power source. It’s just the patch of grass reacting with the soil and producing a small electrical charge to the LCD screen that displays the time. I think this just proves how mother nature gives us clues to make living a little less of a negative impact on earth. Read more »
Mini Hydro Clock
This is too great an idea to pass and I think this is one of the first of its kind too. The HydroClock is a perfect “toy” to give your toddler. Toy in the sense that they can feed it with liquid and see it tell time for them. Hey, this is great for 3rd graders during their time telling class. The design is all too geeky too isn’t it. You must admit that it does make you look twice when someone would pour water into a clock! Ha ha. But true to it’s form (looks like a water container, anyway) it can receive water in AND tell accurate time. Read more »
