I drink my coffee at three places, Starbucks very once in a while, the bagel shop and the sandwich shop. Their decaf coffee varies with Starbucks and the bagel shop having the best one and the sandwich shop an ok one.

But, a big but, the type of coffee you drink can also influence the taste for better. Here is a infographic with all kinds of coffee and of which parts they are made, milk, chocolate, steamed milk, etc. As the infographic states:

I mostly drink a Cappuccino or Mocha, but from the places where I drink coffee only Starbucks makes them like stated in the infographic, with chocolate. The other shops use chocolate milk, maybe that is what is meant with chocolate in the infographic?

There are two coffee on that list I have never heard of, The Miami Vice and The YuaYang. I’m sure I won’t like The YuaYang as I never drink tea with milk, tea with milk does not appear in my vocabulary. The Miami Vice I might try, but I have never seen it on any menu’s.

When I see this guide I totally fall in the Average Joe group, I have read blogs of people who I label coffee geeks. They roast their own beans, write about the exact process of roasting, and when making the coffee how long to boil the water, exact amount of coffee to add, etc. I could never keep up. I can’t make my own coffee even if my life depended on it.

As long as my decaf Mocha or Cappuccino tastes good I’m happy.

Not that I am a coffee expert, but I guess having never drank coffee before it’s nice to have a new drink and new taste. A warm drink to relax at times. I now understand the appeal of hanging out in a coffeehouse everyday drinking coffee.

I never knew that caffeine works in the same parts of the brain as cocaine and heroine. So I guess it’s no wonder that caffeine is banned at the Olympics due that it increases endurance amongst other effects.

In November last year I quit caffeine cold turkey. No more iced tea, I drink decaf coffee and I drink decaf cola. And the few times I drink tea I drink tea without caffeine. And now thanks to this infographic I find out to my amazement that decaf is not really 100% decaf…..great.

Coffee lovers tell me that decaf coffee does not taste as good as regular coffee but to be honest I don’t see how the lack or not of caffeine affects the taste.

And finally that piece over Hitler getting caffeine and glucose injections sounds really far fetched, although considering all the craziness of that man, maybe not.

If you tend to buy ready-brewed coffee at Starbucks, buy ready-ground beans for use at home, or (shock) drink instant coffee, you might wonder what all the fuss is about.

However, if you take the trouble to roast your own beans, you might actually need some way to cool them down afterwards (they continue roasting for as long as they’re hot, apparently).

Well, EMS now uses two hot-air popcorn makers. One roasts the beans and the other has been modified to cool them down afterwards. I’m sure you can get dedicated machines to do all this, but what would be the fun in that?

The great thing is that hot-air popcorn makers aren’t really good at making popcorn (oil and pan method makes proper though slightly less healthy popcorn) but they sound as if they’re great at cooking up coffee beans!

Having said that, this concept coffee machine does look interesting. The BeMoved machine has got the Douwe Egberts brand name on it, so it can’t be all that bad… can it?

The most important aspect of getting your coffee is getting it just right, and the large touchscreen’s primary purpose is to offer a range of options which make choosing style and ingredients easy.

While that coffee is brewing, the screen can also be used to check news, weather, sports and so on. Just don’t hold up the queue.

Apparently the concept was devised because “people wanted more interaction with their beverages”. I’m not sure about that — at least I love interacting with my freshly brewed coffee but only inasmuch as I quaff a cup or two of it every morning.

With caffeine the mainstay of the geek, and with some geeks thriving on graphs, this seemed like the perfect picture to put here. Useful, too, as you can now consider how much exercise you’ll have to do to work off that caffeine buzz.

Now we all knew that real, strongly brewed black coffee would give the biggest caffeine hit, but now you can choose a range of options depending on how much you need to be awake.

Just stay away from the milky, creamy stuff unless you’re thinking of boxing someone.

This mug set is available in Pantone colors 464 C, 1395 C, 175 C AND 1545 C. Of course, your local coffee bar is going to be more than happy to service your request for coffee in a particular shade rather than dumping it in one a paper cup as per usual.

Apparently, 1545 C is the perfect “Espresso” color, followed by a 175 C “Americano”, 464 C “Latte” and 1395 C “Cappuccino”. Of course, I can’t tell if those are accurate colors because my monitor isn’t correctly calibrated. Then again, I’ll put up with most types of fresh coffee so long as it’s hot and has both flavor and effect.

What really bothers me – unless that’s a giant hand – is that the cups aren’t nearly big enough for a decent cup of java.

I have to say I like the silver and black one the best, but it might also come in other colours. How good the coffee would be from one of these machines is another matter, but there’s no way of knowing that until it’s made.

*Sigh* I am in love. Seriously. If there is one beverage that I cannot live without – aside from water, ok – it is coffee. I know that so many people say it is unhealthy; that too much caffeine is not good for you, and so on. But hey, once you taste my homemade brew, you would understand why I live off this stuff!

Going back to the pendant – yeah, it is a representation of the caffeine molecule. According to the guys at ThinkGeek, the pendant was designed by a “wayward Ph.D. post-grad in molecular biophysics.” The pendant measures in at 1.5 inches wide (that’s 3.81 cm) and is attached to a necklace that can be adjusted from 15 to 18 inches long (38.1 cm to 45.72 cm). The price tag? $84.99 (60.57GBP). Not a bad price since both pendant and chain are made of sterling silver.

Oh, and the whole thing comes packaged in a gift box – recycled of course – which also contains the necessary info to explain the caffeine molecule. Then again, you probably could explain it yourself, right?

If all jewelry pieces were designed in this way, I think that I would learn to love jewelry! (I really want this!!!)
