Commodore has re-booted their 64 PC line, now packing more power than the first release in 1982. Keeping the same, now retro casing, but fully fitted with the most recent technology. Offering 5 price class, from a barebone case of $250 to a fully equipped case, containing amongst other a Blue Ray drive and 1 TB disk for a grand total of $894. That is way pricier than a Mac Mini. My first computer: Atari 400 8-bit
I really wish I had my old Atari 400 computer to hand. I think it’s still at my parents place, though they might have thrown it out — I can’t remember. I’m reminiscing about the Atari 400 — my first real computer. As the ad below shows, it was a bit of the poor relation to the Atari 800 – less pricy but less memory. I’m not sure if that keyboard was supposed to repel spills, but I remember getting quite adept at typing on it. Read more »
Gakken launches self-assembly 4-bit microcomputer
Some seriously retro geekery for you here, with Gakken’s launch of the GMC4 4-bit microcomputer. Self-assembly required, it features a 20-key keypad, single 7-segment LED, seven individual LEDs, and comes with seven bits of software built in: an organ (basic tone generator), sound hit game, whack-a-mole, tennis, a timer, music player and morse code generator. Washable Mice (Mouses?)
So which is it? How do you pluralize “mouse,” the peripheral that you attach to your computer? I cannot count the number of times that this argument has come up at the office. In a room full of English teachers, you can just imagine the kind of debate that happens. Anyhow, either form is acceptable – mouses or mice, whatever you wish to use.
