So now we have it. DC have announced their plans for September, and yes, we can expect a universe wide reboot, with a staggering (and wallet busting) FIFTY-TWO first issues to be relased that month. That of course is not withstanding their plans for same-day digital release of comics. Now, as a reader, I find myself in a quandary here. I feel like a dog with two bones, with my loyalties torn. Four Days To Save The Earth, well……sort of
It has now been four days since the announcement that Bob Harras has been appointed Editor-In-Chief at DC Comics, coming on the back of the news of DC’s major reorganisation and relocation to Burbank California and the closure of WildStorm. This is a position unoccupied since the departure of the great Jenette Kahn back in ’02, but not a title unfamiliar to Harras. Back in the 90′s, when Marvel was filing for bankruptcy, he was EiC at the House Of Ideas. This has pretty obviously generated mixed reaction (as all things comics tend to do). With the New Year fast approaching, Dan Didio spent a few moments answering questions this time by video on what some of DC’s plans are for 2010 – http://www.newsarama.com/common/media/video/player.php?aid=32559#comments . I regret to say there was little to be impressed with. No Kid Flash title. Nor, despite previous assurances that he was not going to be squeezed out, no strip for the Wally West Flash either, it will be Barry Allen all the way.
