There’s a story behind every game and I stumbled upon this gem while lurking through Reddit. It seems that “magnumix” was a disgruntled game developer who decided to channel his frustrations to build one of the gaming gems of WP7, a platform desperately lacking in immersive but free to play games.
Approximately 11 months ago I created a throw-away account named FrustratedProgrammer asking reddit for advice on what to do with my stuck career. I received some great advice, and tried finding new work without any success mainly due to the state of the economy. Instead, I decided to channel my frustration into something positive, and after several months of very difficult but loving labor, I wanted to share my game I created with reddit.
If you’re so willing, would you please try out my game I created for the Windows Phone 7? It’s called Satalaunch and is available for free on the WP7 marketplace. In the process of porting it over to iPhone and hopefully Android soon, but right now, I would really love some love from reddit. So here it is, I present to you: Satalaunch.
As a matter of fact I do own an HTC Mozart so after reading through the thread (and wondering why he chose to develop for WP7 first — and for free!) I downloaded Satalaunch over the Marketplace.
The result: what was supposed to be a quick trip to the throne turned out to be an extended visit while finishing a couple of levels (coupled with getting frustrated with crashing into other planets). Watch the YouTube video to get a better idea of the game. In simple terms, you need to slingshot the satellite “Astro” to its goal while avoiding the gravitational pull of other planets.
