Duke Nudem: NSFW Strip Tease for Duke Nukem Forever

Duke Nudem: NSFW Strip Tease for Duke Nukem Forever

The Witcher II has nudity. So does Duke Nukem. And they’re going all out with the ESRB ratings. Duke Nudem is a frustrating target practice game vs a couple of women. If you win, they strip down naked. Yes. That’s why you won’t find this on YouTube. The game is frustratingly hard (obviously part of the rules) as you’re playing using accelerated mouse movements. Quite Possibly the Biggest Gaming News of the Year

Quite Possibly the Biggest Gaming News of the Year

Irrational Games, makers of the bestselling game BioShock, have unveiled their latest title, and it’s not what anyone expected. BioShock Infinite is technically set in the same universe as the original game (and its sequel), but that’s where the similarities end. Rapture’s dank underwater corridors have been replaced with bright, open spaces floating alongside clouds, in a thriving city filled with its own population. BioShock Infinite is set in the floating city of Columbia, which Irrational describes as “a floating symbol of American ideals at a time when the United States was emerging as a world power.” At the time the game begins, Columbia went missing ten years ago, and the Read more »

Mimeo and the Kleptopus King

Mimeo and the Kleptopus King

For the old skool style gamers out there who own an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad there is a game to look forward to. Mimeo is a pixel based game being developed by Shaun Inman, expected release is late 2010. Mimeo (even the name) started as a Mario clone with a twist: instead of power-ups affecting the player, they affect the entire game world. A story and mythos quickly developed. The so-called Mimeoverse consists of two 16-bit demiverses sharing 32-bits between them. When the evil Kleptopus King, an 8-bit octopus with an inferiority complex, discovers a portal into Mimeo’s realm and begins to syphon off its bits, Mimeo is sucked Read more »

Asteroids: how to eat a retro video game

Asteroids: how to eat a retro video game

I am not sure who has the most free time on their hands: Evil Mad Scientist for creating such incredible WTFs, or me for reading them. Probably EMS. The latest exciting DIY project from the labs is edible Asteroids. I’m sure it’s happened to you: been getting all nostalgic with some old video games, totally lost track of the time, and then realised you’re famished. The solution? Keep on topic with these Asteroids cookies. Lovingly hand-crafted, naturally. The penultimate comment: “Serve carefully arranged, on a dark background.” Take a photo, though, because they ain’t gonna last for long. Via Read more »

Tabletop Pong: turning a classic video game into reality

Tabletop Pong: turning a classic video game into reality

What happens when you try to turn the classic arcade game PONG into a real life tabletop game? Evil Mad Scientist has done just that and come up with Tabletop Pong. It’s a definite work in progress, but you can read the fascinating journey including photos and descriptions of the construction process. Check out the video of it in action: Obviously, some real world elements have crept in to the design — because the table isn’t quite level gravity takes its toll on the ball. Perhaps this makes the game even more playable (or fun, at least)? In order to keep the ball moving (or to encourage it along) the Read more »

Pong: Retro video game meets latest browser technology

Pong: Retro video game meets latest browser technology

There have been plenty of implementations of Pong over the years, given how long this retro video game has been around and how popular this simple content still is. Playing Flash versions in a browser window is old hat, so how about using the browser windows themselves as the ball and bats? That’s what the developers at stewdio.org have done. Browser Pong has been written to take advantage of the latest HTML 5 specification, which is why it doesn’t work in standards-mashers like Internet Explorer. Graphically advanced it’s not, though if you fancy cheating it’s pretty easy — just expand one of the “bat” browser windows fully vertically. Easy. Browser Read more »

Is Rubik's 360 the best thing since the Cube?

Is Rubik's 360 the best thing since the Cube?

A couple of days ago the latest puzzle from Rubik arrived on the scene. Professor Erno Rubik explains. “The Rubik’s 360 is one of the most innovative and exciting puzzles we’ve developed since the Cube – adopting elements of my original design, challenging the solver to use concentration, skill and dexterity. But it’s a more kinetic challenge, more physical, because gravity is involved.” The object of the puzzle is to move six colored balls into their appropriate holes by spinning the puzzle around. It’s made up of a 10cm diameter clear plastic sphere with six coloured domes positioned at intervals around the edge. At top and bottom are two black Read more »

Blizzard removes LAN Multiplayer on Starcraft II

Blizzard removes LAN Multiplayer on Starcraft II

Without a doubt, Blizzard’s upcoming sequel Starcraft II is one of the most anticipated games in recent memory. The first Starcraft created such hardcore fan appreciation that up to this day — 11 years after it was released — thousands of people still play the game. That is unprecendented and anyone would be hardpressed to think of any game that gains this level of longevity. One of the reasons for the fans’ continued support for Starcraft, aside from the deep, strategic gameplay is the fact that you can play it with your friends and mount frenetic multiplayer battles during LAN parties. Nothing beats having a heated game in a room Read more »

Are GTA IV DLCs just timed exclusives for Microsoft?

Are GTA IV DLCs just timed exclusives for Microsoft?

Gamers know that Microsoft scored a “coup” of sorts by cornering the downloadable content for such hits as Grand Theft Auto IV and Fallout 3. The deal it struck with Rock Star Games and Bethesda is that DLCs for the two games will only be made available on the Xbox 360 — much to the disappointment of Playstation 3 fans. Of course, this agreement is not without any financial weight for the game company. Microsoft reportedly paid $25 million for each GTA IV DLC. A really big amount if you think about it. Microsoft has insisted that the DLCs will only be available for its console but timed exclusivity was Read more »

Beatles Rock Band release day will also be D-Day for Beatles remastered albums

Beatles Rock Band release day will also be D-Day for Beatles remastered albums

I remember being stoked about the announcement of The Beatles: Rock Band game that will be released on September 9. Being a longtime fan of the The Beatles I knew that this was a game that I will want to have. What made the game doubly interesting is that the songs in the game will be remastered versions of the originals. As Beatles fans well know, The Beatles catalogue has yet to be given a remastering treatment. The closest we got was the Love Soundtrack for the Cirque de Soleil show. It has remained unreleased up to now despite a clamor from fans. But that wait is now over. Apple Read more »
