The bespectacled geek may be a stereotype, but who cares about stereotypes if you can’t see? There are contact lenses, of course, but there are times when your eyes just need a rest and you have to wear glasses. And when it comes to glasses, one of the irritating things about them is wiping them clean. I am sure you can think of a hundred and one situations when those lenses get smudged, foggy, or dirty. And if you do not have the right kind of cloth, you know how that goes.

If you can relate, raise your hand! (Mine are both up.)

What if you can have a t-shirt that will double as an effective wipe for your glasses? Yes, such a t-shirt does exist, and of course, where else does it come from but the Land of the Rising Sun.

Called the Wipe T-shirt, the clothing item looks just like most any other t-shirt that you can buy at any store. It has a round neck and regular sleeves. The design is unremarkable. It has got stripes, just like the millions of other striped t-shirts you can see.

So where does the difference lie? In the material used for the t-shirt, of course. The stripes may be classic design, but the material used for the stripes are not your ordinary cotton wool. Instead, microfiber cloth was used to create two of those three stripes, and you know what microfiber means.

To make things a little more complicated (or simpler, depending on your perspective), the top stripe is meant for your mobile phone. Of course, how can we forget about mobile phones when it comes to geeks? Obviously, the screens of today’s mobile phones can use a good wiping every now and then. And what better location to wipe your phone on but your chest? I guess the designers weren’t thinking of women when they designed the Wipe T-shirt. Then again…

Wipe T-shirt for Phone

The bottom stripe is meant for your glasses, which is understandable as that is the part of the t-shirt that is most accessible for this purpose anyway.

If you obsess about uber clean glasses and gadgets, get a Wipe T-shirt for $81.

So it seems that everyone has fallen for George R.R. Martin’s fantasy world, thanks to HBO’s Game of Thrones. As much as I love the TV show and the books, I still can’t help but go back to my first love: Wheel of Time. This epic series by Robert Jordan remains unmatched in my heart. While I doubt that the books will be turned in a TV series any time soon, I am pretty sure that there are still countless readers who spend considerable time discussing, reading, living, and thinking about the complex web that Robert Jordan’s world is.

And in case you are one of those, you’ll be delighted to know that there now exists an official shop where you can get Wheel of Time tees. They call themselves Ta’veren Tees (no need to explain the choice if you are a fan) and they are the first and only creator of licensed Wheel of Time tees. We can all thank Jeffrey Daniel, Sophie Decaudin, and Kiley Kellermeyer – obviously WoT fans themselves – for creating the shop. Oh, and yes, Robert Jordan’s widow Harriet McDougal has given this enterprise her blessing.

Currently Ta’veren Tees does not have a lot of designs to offer. From what I have seen, there are only six designs for women and seven for men (and they’re not all mutually exclusive, by the way). Still, the shop is still in its infancy, and it’s not like we have other options! Maybe WoT fans can help and throw in some ideas regarding designs?

In any case, here are my picks.

Wheel of Time Tee

This design is available for both men and women. If there’s one tee you should get, I think this is it.

<a href="http://www.forevergeek.com/2011/08/wheel-of-time-tees/wheel-of-time-women-front/" rel="attachment wp-att-36460" title="Wheel of Time Tees"">
Wheel of Time Women Front

As symbolic the front is, it is the back that got me.

Wheel of Time Women Back

I Embrace Saidar

I Embrace Saidar

Women WoT fans, tell me honestly, how many times have you wished you could embrace saidar? Call me a nutter, but I cannot count the times! I have to admit, though, this is not exactly how I imagined the rosebud to be.

Ashaman

Ashaman

We have yet to see how the Ashamans turn out – at least those in the Black Tower – but there is no denying that this shirt kicks butt.

Wheel of Time tees go from $18 to $30, and they ship worldwide. What are you waiting for? Get one now!

Game Boy Swimsuit Front

Now what did I say? Doesn’t that swimsuit just make you want to push buttons?

Seriously, though, whoever thought of this Game Boy Swimsuit is a genius. For sure, not only women will want to get their hands on one. Any self-respecting male would not fail to appreciate the design. And it’s not all about the front of the suit! Take a look at the back.

<a href="http://www.forevergeek.com/2011/08/summer-just-got-better-with-this-game-boy-swimsuit/game-boy-swimsuit-back/" rel="attachment wp-att-36391" title="title="Game Boy Swimsuit"">
Game Boy Swimsuit Back

You have to admit, this Game Boy Swimsuit gives your memories of playing Super Mario on your by now vintage Game Boy a whole new different perspective. Of course, I can imagine some silly school boys cracking jokes and laughing awkwardly at how the buttons are strategically placed. All I can say is that going to the beach or the pool this summer just got more fun. Heck, as long as you get to have an excuse to wear a swimsuit this cool, you can even take a dip in that inflatable pool you got your little nephew for his last birthday!

Check out more of their designs on their Facebook page. Unfortunately, you can only drool over the Game Boy Swimsuit as it is not for sale anymore. Due to copyright restrictions, the design has been taken out of the catalogue. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Geeks and fashion? Gone are the days when the reasonable people did not care about what to wear. Instead, today, we hear about hipsters, geek chic, geek fashion, and so on. There are even entire ensembles created especially for those who want to look geeky cool! Maybe there is nothing wrong with that, but it is something that I still cannot totally grasp.

Anyhow, did any of you hear about FashionWare 2011? It epitomizes the trend that I just outlined above. FashionWare was dubbed as the “Fashion Week for Geek Fashionistas” and was held at the recently concluded CES 2011. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure out what it was all about – a fashion show featuring technology-inspired fashion.

So here is a sampling of what went on the runway.

That’s Sports Ware Mom, sporting a weight management system that is based on a mobile phone, for the easy monitoring of food intake. She’s also wearing special pants that have leg support and sneakers that enhance the toning of muscles.

This momma is the Green Ware Mom, who is wearing a solar backpack, complete with a mobile phone charger.

This one here is Blogger Ware Mom. She’s wearing a Fibonacci scarf – now that is something I wouldn’t mind having! Then again, I don’t know about the color. She’s also lugging around a camcorder that records everything you see. That could very well be handy for mom blogs, don’t you think so?

Now lest you think that the event was a little too gender-biased, take a look at this.

That’s Mobile Ware Dad who has a cool LED umbrella (perfect for a stormy night) and an MP3 shirt (which reminds me of Raj). Plus points for the umbrella. I am unsure about the MP3 shirt.

The more I look at the photos and descriptions of the event, the more I feel unsure about what to think about it.

Forever Geek readers, what are your thoughts?

Do you know who Andy is? I am pretty sure you can name a few Andys in your life, but for the true blue Android geek, there is but one Andy: that little green robot. Andy, Google’s Android mascot has become precious to many an Android-loving person.

Gary Booth, who I suppose is one of them, just came out with an Exploded Andy shirt, which I think will enthrall a lot of geeks out there. True, the idea of Andy exploding may not seem nice at first, but once you take a look at the shirt, I am pretty sure that you will want to get your hands on one.

Isn’t that a pretty sight? To be honest, I have never been that much of an Android fan. I even thought Andy to be quite a bit on the chunky side (although there’s nothing wrong with being chunky per se). It just never appealed to me that much. Or maybe I was just not paying attention.

Anyhow, that image is pretty interesting – if only to find out what makes Andy tick. You can buy your shirt at Exploded Andy for $19. Shipping costs $6 for both the U.S. and international destinations. They have sizes for both guys and girls, small to 3x for the former and small to large for the latter.

If you want this image on your wall, then you can also buy a poster from the same web site for the same price, although shipping costs $8 for this product. Don’t ask me why.

You gotta love this dress by Erin of A Dress A Day. I came across it over at Geekologie, and I have to say that I fell in love! You see, I am NOT a dress person. I am more of a jeans and shirt gal, putting comfort high above fashion. Yeah, I have been called out for it, but hey, who cares, right?

Lately, though, I have been noticing dresses and thinking that maybe, it’s about time to get my hands on some. Stumbling across this Tetris dress just might be the sign that I have been waiting for! I know it may not be “glam” for the fashionistas, but I think that it’s just perfect.

Now as I said, I am no fashion expert, but I think that the shape of the dress has an understated look, making it just right for those who do not want to turn too many heads. That will not matter much, though, as I think that the tetris design will definitely turn every head in the vicinity! I also like the touch of the neckline as it is not too low but low enough to show what some geek girls are hiding underneath those comfy shirts! ;)

Whatcha think girls, would you wear this dress? Guys? Would you hit on a geek girl wearing such a dress?

By the way, since we’re looking at a Tetris dress, you might be interested to know that there are other Tetris-themed accessories out there.
